YouTube launches sleep timer for users

YouTube is a video viewing application that is no longer strange to users. Many people have the habit of watching YouTube when going to bed and sometimes forget to turn it off, which will cause the phone to run out of battery the next morning. To overcome this problem, YouTube has introduced a timer feature that allows users to stop playing videos after a set period of time.

Timers can be used on both mobile and desktop. When the timer is active, the video playback will stop when the time limit is reached. This gives users peace of mind when they forget to close the app.

With the sleep timer feature, users can set a timer to stop playing videos after 10, 15, 20, 30 or 45 minutes, after an hour or when the current video ends. This feature is only available to Premium users during the trial period but now anyone can experience it.

In addition, based on user feedback, the company also brought some improvements to the playback speed feature. Accordingly, the adjustable playback speed will allow users to change in increments of 0.05 (compared to the current 0.25) but the maximum speed will still be 2x.

Additionally, YouTube has also improved landscape video viewing on iOS devices, and the mini in-app player is now resizable and movable.

Users can create collaborative playlists and design their own custom thumbnails for them — using their own photos or AI-generated ones. Later this year, users are expected to be able to vote on videos in playlists.

Finally, when a user visits the channel page on TV, a video will automatically start playing to give the user a teaser of the creator's content.
