What to do with pulmonary fibrosis after tuberculosis treatment?

I have pulmonary tuberculosis and have completed a 6-month treatment regimen. The test was negative and I have completed the treatment. I went to the doctor and had a chest x-ray and the conclusion was that I have scattered pulmonary fibrosis at the bottom of the lungs and I did not take any more medicine. But now, after 4 months of completing the treatment, I still feel phlegm in my throat and still cough up a little phlegm every day, and sometimes I cough. So should I go for a check-up again and which department should I go to? Thank you, doctor.

She has completed 6 months of tuberculosis treatment, the test is negative, which is a very good sign. The X-ray after treatment shows scattered pulmonary fibrosis, which is a normal sequela after tuberculosis treatment, and does not require medication if there are no severe symptoms.

However, the fact that you still have phlegm and a mild cough after 4 months is something to be aware of - it could be due to the fibrous damage not being fully recovered, or a mild secondary infection, respiratory allergies, or environmental influences (dust, cold...).

The doctor advised her to:

- Re-examination for further examination.

- You should go to the hospital's General Internal Medicine department for a comprehensive re-evaluation by a doctor.

- Sputum test, spirometry or X-ray may be needed again if needed.

🔹 Do not use antibiotics or expectorants for a long time.
🔹 Practice deep breathing, drink lots of water, avoid dusty environments, and smoking (including passive smoking).
