(Dan Tri) - Today (August 22), the Women's Volleyball World Cup will kick off in Thailand. This is the first tournament that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will participate in and promises to create surprises.

The 2025 Women's Volleyball World Cup will take place from August 22 to September 7 in Thailand, with 32 teams from all continents. According to the draw, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is in Group G with Poland, Germany and Kenya. This group will compete in Phuket. The top two teams will advance to the round of 16.

As of the morning of August 22, no TV station in Vietnam has the copyright to broadcast the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship. This means that Vietnamese volleyball fans will not be able to watch the tournament live on TV channels.

Instead, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) will broadcast the tournament live via its official YouTube channel World Volleyball. In addition, Dan Tri newspaper will report live all matches of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at this tournament.

The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will play the opening match of the Women's Volleyball World Cup against Poland at 8:30 p.m. on August 23. Next, Coach Tuan Kiet's team will face Germany and Kenya on August 25 and August 27, respectively.

Initially, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team registered 14 athletes to participate in the tournament. However, at the last minute, Bich Tuyen withdrew due to personal reasons. Coach Tuan Kiet did not have time to add more players. Therefore, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was the only team with only 13 athletes participating in the tournament.

Before the world championship, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team had two friendly matches with quality opponents. We lost 0-4 to Spain and won 4-0 to Kenya. Before that, we won the second round of the SEA V-League (Southeast Asian volleyball tournament) after defeating Thailand.
