Implementing the plan to prevent, combat and respond to storm No. 5, on August 24, Van An commune evacuated 7 households (with 21 people) located near Ba Ra Nam Dan culvert, in Sa Nam hamlet, at high risk of landslides to a safe shelter.

Information from the People's Committee of Van An Commune: Each household has its own relocation plan. Some families move to relatives' houses, some are arranged to move to neighboring families with solid houses. All households comply with local requirements.

On the morning of August 25, before storm No. 5 made landfall, the Party Committee and People's Committee continued to inspect this vulnerable area. After the inspection, two households returned to get more belongings and cook more food to bring along...

The commune leaders have strongly requested households to quickly complete their work and return to shelters to avoid possible unfortunate consequences.

An inspection at Loc Tien hamlet showed that all 65 fishing households in the hamlet had brought their boats and fishing nets home and to safe shelters; no one remained on their boats on the Lam River.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khan, 46 years old, in Loc Tien hamlet, who works as a fisherman on Lam river, said: The commune has made propaganda, clearly stating that this is a very strong and very dangerous storm. Hearing the propaganda, people are aware of the danger of the storm, so they have complied well. After arranging boats, rafts, and fishing gear safely, we tied them to our houses more firmly.

Also on the morning of August 25, leaders of Van An commune also inspected the safety of the lake and dam system in the area; directed forces to continue cutting down and pruning trees and branches that are at risk of falling and breaking, causing unsafe power grids and affecting people's homes.

Mr. Vuong Hong Thai - Chairman of the People's Committee of Van An commune said: To prevent and combat storm No. 5, the commune has deployed forces on standby at low-lying, vulnerable areas at risk of flooding and landslides to proactively respond, ready to continue evacuation, ensuring absolute safety of people and property.
At the same time, the commune also organizes forces to guard, control, support, and guide to ensure safe traffic for people and vehicles, especially at culverts, bridges, spillways, deep flooded areas, fast-flowing water, areas where landslides have occurred or are at risk of landslides; resolutely not allowing people and vehicles to pass if safety is not ensured./.
