Stopping to sit by the rock, the future teacher leaned her head on her lover's shoulder, recalling the moment they met in August 2024. At that time, Duc was participating in a training session for a parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army. Then, the training session had to be temporarily suspended due to the impact of storm No. 3 (Yagi), Duc was able to return home to Van Yen district, Yen Bai province, which is also Hue's hometown. Before that, the two had been friends on Facebook without knowing it.

After exchanging messages on Facebook, the two agreed to meet in real life, right in their hometown. The first time they met, Hue thought to herself: "What a person, as dark as a burnt pillar" and during the whole conversation that day, she did not have much of an impression so she was very quiet. Meanwhile, he was attracted to the girl sitting opposite him, tall and fair-skinned. Much later, when they had feelings for each other, he joked: "You are like a glass of condensed milk, and I am coffee, mixed together to form a perfect love."

The first time they met, knowing that his girlfriend did not have a good impression of him, Hong Duc immediately thought of using the tactic of "slow and steady wins the race". Every day, he regularly texted and chatted, asked about her health, and encouraged her to study hard. Each story about the training ground, about the life of a soldier, or sometimes just sharing about quick meals on the march... helped the future teacher understand more about Duc's disciplined but extremely warm world . The more she talked and interacted with the young officer, the more Hue felt that he was a sincere, thoughtful, gentle, and trustworthy person.

The young couple's feelings gradually blossomed after the messages, giving them the strength to compete in studying and working well together. During the Tet holiday, the two had some beautiful moments together. On New Year's Eve, Hong Duc held his girlfriend's hand and said: "Let's love each other!". At that moment, heart-shaped fireworks bloomed in the sky as proof of the young couple's love. That love became even stronger when receiving support from both families.

During their time together, even though Duc was busy with work, sometimes he could only text her once every few days or the phone calls were short late at night, he always received sympathy and understanding from Hue. Knowing that his girlfriend was disadvantaged, Duc compensated by quietly showing his sincere concern. There were simple things that made Hue remember forever, such as the gift he gave her on October 20th, a wooden pen box engraved with her name and a small anklet, and a lovely house assembled from bullet shells, which also made Hue realize the subtlety and cleverness in sending the message of a happy family that her boyfriend sent.
