Identifying the environment as an important criterion in building new rural areas (NTM), contributing to changing the face of rural villages, creating a green - clean - beautiful rural landscape, in recent times, Vu Ban district has always paid special attention to directing the protection and improvement of environmental quality. Thanks to that, criterion No. 17 on the environment in building NTM in localities in the district has been maintained and improved; contributing to making the rural environment landscape increasingly prosperous.

Taking us to "witness" the bins for inorganic and organic household waste in households in the area, Secretary of the Party Cell of An Duyen village, Dai An commune, Nguyen Gia Tho, said: Since being equipped with bins for waste classification, people in the village have actively implemented the "3 cleans": Clean houses, clean alleys, clean public places. People have gradually formed the habit of voluntarily putting garbage in bins according to regulations for classification at source. Along with that, associations and organizations regularly propagate, guide and remind members to implement regulations on construction, environmental protection, planting flowers, planting shade trees, investing in equipment, solar lights to illuminate roads at night; organize cleaning of village roads, alleys, trimming trees, limiting overgrown weeds... Up to now, 100% of families in the village have classified household waste according to regulations; at the same time, actively participating in environmental protection associated with implementing a civilized lifestyle...

Identifying the implementation of environmental criteria as one of the difficult criteria, requiring the participation of the entire political system and the joint efforts of the people, the People's Committee of Vu Ban district has specifically assigned members of the People's Committee to be leaders of the sectors in charge of the area and each criterion in the criteria; communes and towns have assigned officials to be specifically in charge of criterion No. 17. Directing to strengthen coordination between sectors and levels in mobilizing people to implement criterion No. 17 to actively deploy, urge and remove difficulties arising during the implementation process. The People's Committees of communes and towns have organized the signing of commitments with organizations, schools and villages, hamlets and residential groups on implementing the model of classifying and treating organic waste at households. Promote propaganda on loudspeaker systems, mobile propaganda in the area about the benefits of classifying and treating waste at source, mobilize households to implement the "3T" model (Reduce - Reuse - Recycle) by methods such as using organic waste compost pits, household waste bins and waste classification to reduce the amount of waste transported to centralized waste treatment areas... Establish delegations to each village, hamlet, residential group, and household to inspect, guide and mobilize people to implement the model; adjust the waste collection schedule and notify households to know and implement. Some communes signed contracts with the Environmental Company to collect waste from households for treatment. The movement to join hands to clean the environment is maintained regularly, people participate in cleaning and keeping village roads and alleys clean every day.

Thanks to that, up to now, the whole district has 100% of villages, hamlets, and residential groups with nearly 100% of households registered to participate in the classification and treatment of organic waste at households, of which over 70% of households have done a good job of classifying and treating organic waste at the source. In some communes such as Dai Thang, Vinh Hao, Minh Tan, Lien Minh, Thanh Loi, the high rate of households implementing has reduced about 30-40% of the amount of waste that must be transported to centralized waste treatment areas, contributing to reducing the load on local centralized waste treatment sites. In addition, organic waste after treatment and decomposition is in the form of humus and looseness that can be used directly to fertilize plants. Mass organizations also actively mobilize members to clean up and clear bushes on rural roads. The movement of planting flowers along roadsides, building fences and standard flagpoles also received the consensus and support of all classes of people.

The Farmers' Association, the Youth Union, the Women's Association, and the Veterans' Association regularly disseminate to union members and people about the purpose and significance of the new rural construction program in general and the implementation of criterion No. 17 in particular. All 14 communes and towns have equipped garbage bins on some roads, planned and arranged collection and treatment sites for household waste conveniently for people. Some associations and organizations have coordinated with the Vu Ban Social Policy Bank to disburse preferential loans to build clean water and hygienic household sanitation facilities (toilets, latrines); the Women's Association promotes the implementation of the "5 no, 3 clean" movement; the Farmers' Association carries out propaganda and mobilizes farmers to collect agricultural waste in the right places; the Veterans' Association participates in the movement to implement flower road and green tree road models; the Youth Union actively launches volunteer youth projects and tasks: "Volunteer Saturday", "Green Sunday". Implement food safety targets in the area, including promoting propaganda and inspection work, creating positive changes in the awareness of people and owners of food production and trading establishments in the area. Strengthen monitoring of diseases in livestock, do not hide diseases, slaughter, consume sick or dead pigs or discharge dead animals into canals and ditches, contributing to protecting people's health, limiting the outbreak of diseases in livestock farming and protecting the living environment. According to the assessment of the district health sector, in general, local food production and trading establishments have complied well with regulations on food safety and hygiene. In recent years, there have been no cases of food poisoning in the communes.

To continue building a bright - green - clean - beautiful, friendly new rural environment that meets the requirements of advanced and exemplary new rural criteria, in the coming time, when communes and towns in the area merge and expand, it is necessary to continue to promote the experience in the past time, promote information, propaganda, dissemination andeducation of laws on environmental protection; mobilize people to practice a civilized and environmentally friendly culture, voluntarily comply with legal regulations on environmental protection, encourage people to invest in renovating residential areas to create a spacious, bright - green - clean - beautiful, friendly rural living environment; actively deploy and replicate models and environmental protection clubs that operate practically and effectively. Continue to promote the supervision of the implementation of environmental criteria in the construction of new rural communes in localities; develop plans and organize inspections and urge the implementation of environmental protection work at production, business and service establishments; At the same time, strictly handle violations of environmental protection according to regulations.
