With a frequency of 3 flights/week, the resumption of this route is one of Vietnam Airlines ' important political tasks in Malaysia, while realizing the strategy of expanding the flight network and improving the airline's operational efficiency.

In addition, since the two countries upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, many investment and study opportunities between the people of the two countries have been opened, increasing the travel demand of the people.

Mr. Tan Tze Chian, a Malaysian citizen of Chinese descent and a tour guide with 15 years of experience specializing in exploiting Vietnamese-Malaysian tourists and vice versa, and married to a woman whose hometown is Binh Dinh (Vietnam), said that he often uses the services of Vietnam Airlines to travel between the two countries.
“With the nature of my work in the tourism industry, I often travel between Kuala Lumpur - Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City. The frequency of 3 flights/week also fits my work schedule ,” said Mr. Tan Tze Chian.
Welcoming a group of Vietnamese tourists to Kuala Lumpur at Colombia restaurant, Ms. Lee Min Yee, Sales Director of Colombia Leisure Travel Company at Block 8 (2nd Floor, Queen's Avenue, Jalan Bayam, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) said that Vietnam is one of the important markets in ASEAN, the source market in the company's tourism industry in Malaysia.
According to Ms. Lee Min Yee, her company has been exploiting the Vietnamese tourist market for nearly 20 years. To exploit and meet the needs of tourists from Vietnam, the company has invested in 20 45-seat cars to serve the needs of sightseeing and tourism.
“To understand and grasp the needs, interests and culture of Vietnamese tourists, I myself fly to Vietnam at least twice a year to expand the market and partners to exploit new customers. According to Ms. Lee Min Yee, from 2023 to the end of 2024, the company will welcome an average of 50-70,000 visitors from Vietnam each year. In the first 5 months of 2025, the company welcomed more than 30,000 visitors. This number is down compared to 2023-2024. Therefore, she hopes that the number of Vietnamese tourists to Malaysia will increase again.
It is known that Vietnam Airlines is operating 7 round-trip flights per week from Kuala Lumpur to Ho Chi Minh City and the Hanoi - Kuala Lumpur route with a frequency of 3 flights per week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday to meet the travel needs of passengers between Vietnam and Malaysia.
Malaysia is currently the second largest tourist market of Vietnam in Southeast Asia and the seventh in the world. The number of Malaysian tourists to Vietnam is also growing steadily.
Affirming that tourism is a key industry in Malaysia's economic development, at the working session between Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung and Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato' Sri Tiong King Sing on April 14, Minister Dato' Sri Tiong King Sing expressed his desire to coordinate and promote tourism development between the two countries.
The two sides support the plan to open more routes and increase flights between the two countries, especially night flights; encourage and support tourism businesses on both sides to develop more tours and routes, and increase the attraction of two-way tourists.
Aiming to attract 489,000 Vietnamese tourists in 2025, the Malaysian Government and the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board have carried out many activities to promote and stimulate tourism in Vietnam.
