According to the National Tourism Administration (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), in the first 6 months of 2024, Vietnam's tourism industry welcomed more than 8.8 million international visitors and served over 66 million domestic visitors, an increase of nearly 60% over the same period in 2023.
The National Tourism Administration updated data for the first 4 months of 2024 (the peak international tourist season is from September of the previous year to April of the following year) showing that the number of international visitors to Vietnam ranked 3rd in Southeast Asia, after Thailand and Malaysia. This index brings in large revenue for the tourism industry. Specifically, if the revenue in the first 6 months of 2023 reached 343,100 billion VND, then in the first 6 months of 2024 it increased to 436,500 billion VND - much higher than the 338,200 billion VND in the first 6 months of 2019 (before the Covid-19 pandemic).
