On the morning of September 17, the 3rd scientific conference between the Vietnam Military Medical Academy and the Lao Military Medical Academy took place in Hanoi with the theme "Application of new technology in training, scientific research and health care for soldiers and people".
This event was held with the permission of the Heads of Defense of Vietnam and Laos, aiming to promote military medical cooperation between the two countries.

Attending the conference, on the Vietnamese side were: Colonel Le Van Dong, Deputy Director of the Military Medical Department (Vietnam Ministry of National Defense); Lieutenant General, Professor, Doctor Tran Viet Tien, Director of the Military Medical Academy; Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Doctor Nghiem Duc Thuan, Political Commissar of the Military Medical Academy; comrades in the Board of Directors of the Academy and the focal points and units under the Academy.
On the Lao side, there were comrades: Colonel, Master, Phounsavath Phouvilay, Deputy Director of the Military Medical Department, Lao Ministry of National Defense; Major General, Associate Professor, Doctor Mahavong Chansamone, Director of the Lao Military Medical Academy and leaders and representatives of the Lao Military Medical Academy. Also attending the conference were Lieutenant Colonel Soulaxay Souksengta, Deputy Lao Defense Attaché in Vietnam, along with officers, lecturers and researchers from the Lao Military Medical Academy.
In addition, the conference was attended by delegates from the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Military Science, the Department of Military Training and Schools, the Department of Military Security Protection, the Department of Military Medicine; scientists and reporters from the two academies.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Lieutenant General Tran Viet Tien, Director of the Vietnam Military Medical Academy, emphasized: Throughout history, the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos have been nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries. This close-knit and close relationship is an invaluable asset, a solid foundation for the development of the two countries in general and the cooperation between the two armies in particular.

Along with that, the Vietnam Military Medical Academy and the Lao Military Medical Academy have a traditional and long-term cooperative relationship in the career of training military medical staff.
Since 1954, the Vietnam Military Medical Academy has trained 665 Lao students at various levels, many of whom have become senior officials of the Party, State and Lao People's Army.
In recent times, the Vietnam Military Medical Academy has sent 32 delegations to Laos since 2011 to develop training programs and curricula; donated 313 documents in 2021 (205 theses, 108 dissertations) to serve master's training programs at the Lao Military Medical Academy. In 2024, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation, laying the foundation for comprehensive activities.
“The results of cooperation between the two Academies in recent times have contributed to further enhancing the close solidarity and loyalty between the two countries, the two armies, and the two military medical sectors, and opened up future cooperation directions, contributing to improving the quality of health care for soldiers and people of the two countries,” Lieutenant General Tran Viet Tien affirmed.
Lieutenant General Tran Viet Tien expressed his confidence in the development of the Lao military medical sector and in the cooperation between the two academies. In the coming time, the two sides will continue to implement and further enhance the cooperation contents. With the common goal of building the Vietnam Military Medical Academy and the Lao Military Medical Academy increasingly strong, becoming leading military medical training and research centers in the region, worthy of the trust of the Party, State and Army of the two countries.
“With a serious and objective scientific spirit and dedication, scientists from both sides will bring valuable reports and practical proposals, contributing to the development of military medicine in both countries, meeting the increasingly high requirements of the cause of national defense of the two countries,” Lieutenant General Tran Viet Tien expressed.
Speaking at the conference, Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Mahavong Chansamone, Director of the Lao Military Medical Academy, said that this conference not only continued the results of the second scientific conference, but also demonstrated the effective cooperation between the two academies, contributing to strengthening the long-standing traditional friendship between the two armies. This is also an opportunity for the two sides to further strengthen cooperation in scientific research and training, especially in the field of health care for the army and people.

The Director of the Lao Military Medical Academy also affirmed the position of the Vietnam Military Medical Academy as a prestigious educational, training, scientific research and medical treatment unit in Vietnam. The relationship between the Vietnam Military Medical Academy and the Lao Military Medical Academy has been continuously strengthened and developed over the past time.
He hoped that through the conference and subsequent activities, the Vietnam Military Medical Academy would continue to support the Lao Military Medical Academy in improving the quality of training, scientific research, and professional work... to contribute to fostering the Vietnam-Laos friendship to be forever green and sustainable.

This 3rd scientific conference has 12 scientific reports (7 reports from the Vietnam Military Medical Academy and 5 reports from the Lao Military Medical Academy). This is an important forum for scientists and experts from the two academies to share the latest research achievements, exchange practical experiences and discuss challenges and opportunities in improving the quality of health care for officers, soldiers and people.
The reports focused on the conference theme "Application of new technology in training, scientific research and health care for soldiers and people" - a field of interest, topical, suitable for the requirements of modernizing military medicine and developing medicine in the digital transformation era, such as: Research on evaluating the effectiveness of large language models integrated with digital libraries used in modern medical training; Integrating digital technology in teaching pharmacology: from clinical simulation to AI training support; Research on Astilbin concentration in Thổ Phục Linh tubers in some regions of Laos using high-pressure liquid chromatography; Evaluation of the effectiveness of combining delta follitropin and clomiphene citrate in in vitro fertilization...
