At the workshop "Smart manufacturing revolution: Integrating artificial intelligence (AI), robots to optimize production", organized by the High-Tech Business Incubator (SHTP-IC) in collaboration with Ascendas Systems Co., Ltd. and Block71 recently, many real stories about the digital transformation process at Vietnamese factories were shared.
AI applications in manufacturing in Vietnam
Mr. Tran Thanh Nghiep, Director of TMA Smart Manufacturing Solutions Center, said that more and more domestic enterprises are promoting automation, especially applying AI and smart cameras to improve performance.
A typical example is the coconut processing factory in Vinh Long . Here, an automatic coconut counting system is deployed with an accuracy of more than 99%.
Meanwhile, in the Vung Tau Rock Beach area (in Ho Chi Minh City), AI is also applied to monitor vehicles entering and exiting. The system can detect cases of vehicles driving in the wrong lane or overloading and automatically send warnings to the management department.

Not stopping there, a beverage factory has also combined AI with robots to arrange bottles in the correct direction, contributing to shortening packaging time and improving productivity across the entire line.
“Such smart solutions not only help reduce operating costs but also improve accuracy. Some stages that previously required 3-4 people now only need 1 person,” Mr. Nghiep shared.
Global Game Changing Technologies
At the event, experts also introduced the MATLAB and Simulink platforms, engineering simulation and programming software that is being used in many industries such as automotive, aviation, energy, etc. Thanks to its ability to detect errors, forecast, plan and coordinate production, this tool is gradually becoming a powerful assistant in modern factories.
Mr. Alex Lo, CEO of TechSource Systems and Ascendas Systems, emphasized the pivotal role of technology in driving sustainable manufacturing.
“Access to new solutions is also an opportunity for businesses, engineers and innovators in Vietnam to get their hands on game-changing technologies globally,” he said.
