The Vietnamese women's team had their first friendly match in Japan during their 10-day training camp in Osaka. Their first opponent was Japan's top women's club Iga Kunoichi Mie.
Iga Kunoichi Mie has a long history, having been founded in 1976. The team is led by coach Katsuhiro Kusaki. The team is currently ranked 3rd in the Japan Women's National Championship with 23 points after 12 matches.
Facing a quality opponent, coach Mai Duc Chung fielded the strongest lineup of the Vietnamese women's team. Goalkeeper Kim Thanh, Luong Thu Phuong, Chuong Thi Kieu, Tran Thi Thu, Thai Thi Thao and midfielder Ngan Thi Van Su started in a 5-man defense system.
The midfield has Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Duong Thi Van, Thu Thao and Nguyen Thi Van. Huynh Nhu plays alone above the forward line and supports the defense from a distance.
Before the match could get into full swing, the Vietnamese women's team's net shook in the second minute. However, the Vietnamese girls soon found the equalizer 1-1 thanks to Nguyen Thi Van in the 16th minute.
The two teams played a tight game for the rest of the first half. In the 43rd minute, the Vietnamese women's team made a mistake and allowed the top 3 team Japan to increase the score to 2-1 before the first half ended.
