Nguyen Trong Hoang won the 2025 National Men's Amateur Golf Championship (VAO). |
The final round of the 2025 National Men's Amateur Golf Championship (VAO) concluded at Dalat Palace Golf Club on June 14, witnessing a thrilling chase between two young talents Nguyen Trong Hoang and Ho Anh Huy.
Leading the rankings after three rounds with a total score of -5, Nguyen Trong Hoang entered the final day with high expectations. However, the pressure made him have a rough start when he had 2 bogeys (holes 3, 8) and 1 double bogey at hole 4 in the first 9 holes.
Meanwhile, Ho Anh Huy played explosively with 2 consecutive birdies at holes 7 and 8, continuously increasing pressure on the leading position and creating a fierce competition in the last 9 holes.
The drama reached its climax at hole 18, where the two golfers seemed to have to decide the winner in a playoff. However, a wrong tee shot caused Anh Huy to take 4 strokes to get the ball onto the green and had to accept an unfortunate bogey.
On the contrary, Trong Hoang maintained his composure, performed an excellent short game to keep par and win dramatically.
