Indonesia team meets extremely strong opponent in the fourth qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup

On the afternoon of July 17, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) conducted the draw for the fourth qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia. The draw placed Indonesia in Group B with Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

In the two meetings, the Iraqi team beat Indonesia 5-1 in the first leg and won 2-0 in the second leg.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia are in the same group C. Here, Indonesia drew 1-1 with Saudi Arabia in the first leg, and Saudi Arabia lost 0-2 to Indonesia in the second leg.

However, in this rematch, everything will change when every mistake can be paid for by becoming an audience at the 2026 World Cup. Not to mention, the Saudi Arabia team will also play at home in the fourth qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.

The remaining group includes Qatar, UAE and Oman. With home advantage, Qatar is expected to qualify for the 2026 World Cup thanks to home advantage.

In the fourth qualifying round, the teams compete in a round-robin format in Qatar (Group A) and Saudi Arabia (Group B). At the end of the fourth qualifying round, the top two teams in Groups A and B will qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The two runners-up will meet in a play-off (first-leg and second-leg), with the winner representing Asia in the inter-zone play-off. The fourth qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia will take place from October 8 to 14.
