Ha Long University sponsors victims who lost 4 family members in the boat capsize

Ha Long University has visited and officially wants to sponsor Nguyen Huu P. - a survivor of the boat capsize tragedy in Ha Long Bay that killed 4 of P.'s relatives and dozens of other tourists.

Nguyen Huu P. (18 years old, living in Hanoi ) has just passed the 2025 high school graduation exam with high hopes of entering university.

However, Ha Long Bay was the first trip after many years, also a special trip for the whole family to celebrate my coming of age, but it turned into a tragic fateful trip.

After a few minutes of terrible storm, the ship capsized. P.'s father, mother and two sisters were gone forever.

"I look forward to picking you up at school."

Sharing with Thanh Nien , Dr. Nguyen Duc Tiep, Principal of Ha Long University, emotionally said: "Based on the compassion and social responsibility of an educational institution on the very land where the child had an accident, Ha Long University respectfully expresses its wish to sponsor and provide long-term support for Ph. on his upcoming path of study."

Accordingly, if P. and his family agree, the school will accept P. into a training program that suits his abilities and wishes, with a full support package including 100% tuition exemption for the entire university course; free accommodation in a dormitory, safe and friendly environment; monthly living expenses support of about 3 million VND, including accommodation, basic education; mental support, connection with school psychologists, academic advisors and volunteer student teams to help him stabilize after the great shock.

Warm gesture

According to relatives, P.'s family trip was a gift from the family to him after an important exam.

His mother had overcome cancer, his father was a bus driver who struggled to support the family. The whole family put aside their work to go on a trip to Ha Long Bay together, as a milestone marking the son's maturity.

But, after that fateful afternoon, P. returned home with no relatives by his side.

The sudden passing of his father, mother and two sisters left him with great pain. In the final moments of his pain, P. received care from the warm hands of the community.
