Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 23/CD-TTg of the Prime Minister on strengthening measles prevention and control, to continue to proactively deploy measles vaccination measures, the Ministry of Health issued Decision No. 905/QD-BYT approving the implementation of the 2nd measles vaccination plan in 2025 in 54 provinces and cities.

The Ministry of Health has also directed the implementation of catch-up vaccinations for children who have not received enough doses of measles-containing vaccines in Decisions No. 906/QD-BYT and Decision No. 909/QD-BYT.

Accordingly, children from 6 months to under 9 months old will be vaccinated with 1 dose of measles vaccine. Children from 6 to 10 years old who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated with measles-containing vaccine will each be vaccinated with 1 dose of measles-containing vaccine.

Children aged 1 - 5 years who have not received enough doses of measles-containing vaccine will be given catch-up doses (using measles-containing vaccine in the Expanded Immunization Program according to the Expanded Immunization Plan in 2025).

The Ministry of Health has promptly mobilized and received an additional 500,000 doses of measles vaccine sponsored by Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company.

On March 18, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology received and distributed all of these vaccines to localities across the country and allocated the vaccines in the expanded immunization program to compensate for the number of doses given to children aged 1-5 who have not received enough doses of measles-containing vaccines.

The Ministry of Health has directed localities to urgently deploy and ensure vaccination is completed by March 31, 2025 at the latest.

Previously, the Ministry of Health issued Official Dispatch No. 1572/BYT-PB requesting the People's Committees of provinces and cities to ensure funding for measles vaccination in their localities. The Ministry also issued Decision No. 915/QD-BYT to establish 6 inspection teams to monitor, guide, and direct the work of epidemic prevention and control and the implementation of the measles vaccination campaign nationwide.
