(DN) - On the morning of June 11 (May 16th of the lunar calendar), at the Nguyen Huu Canh Temple and Tomb, Bien Hoa City People's Committee solemnly held the 2025 Commemoration Ceremony of Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung; representatives of departments, branches and sectors of the province, Bien Hoa city, the communal house worship committee, students and a large number of people attended the ceremony.

From early morning, delegates participated in the parade with offerings, performed the ritual of offering offerings, burning incense, releasing lucky balloons; listened to the reading of the congratulatory speech in memory of Le Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh, and reviewed the history of the formation and development of Bien Hoa - Dong Nai .

327 years ago (in 1698), Commander Nguyen Huu Canh obeyed the order of Lord Nguyen to go to the South. By water, Nguyen Huu Canh's boat went upstream of Dong Nai River to Cu Lao Pho, summoned local elders to give orders to stabilize and organize life, establish a register, establish Tran Bien Palace, starting the period when the Southern land became an administrative part of Dang Trong.

In 1700, Commander Nguyen Huu Canh passed away. The people of Bien Hoa - Dong Nai respected his contributions and converted Binh Hoanh communal house of Binh Hoanh village, Bien Hoa town into Binh Kinh communal house to worship him with deep admiration, forever remembering his contributions to the enlightenment of Dong Nai.

Speaking at the death anniversary of Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung emphasized that this year's death anniversary of Duc Ong became more special when it was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage. The death anniversary is not only an activity to commemorate a founding father but also a symbol of the spirit of remembering the source of water, showing deep gratitude to the person who contributed to the discovery and construction of Dong Nai - Southern region.

To preserve and promote the value of the traditional festival of Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh's death anniversary, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with localities and relevant units to preserve and restore the original values ​​of the festival; research and prepare scientific documents to advise the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Prime Minister for decision to recognize the special national relic in the coming time. In addition, promote the role of community subjects in practicing and preserving cultural heritage values; promote communication and promotion of heritage values.

Within the framework of the memorial ceremony, Bien Hoa city also organized a painting contest with the theme of historical figures and beautiful landscapes of Bien Hoa. In the evening of the same day, a ceremony was held to release 1,000 flower lanterns on the Dong Nai River in front of the relic and to set off artistic fireworks.
