(Chinhphu.vn) - Regarding the direction and tasks in the coming term, Politburo member and Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu noted that Ho Chi Minh City needs to establish a new growth model based on science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, developing a knowledge-based economy, and a sharing economy with high added value, to become a civilized, modern urban area, a center for development, innovation, and dynamic integration.

On August 25, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Politburo held a conference to announce and present the Politburo's Decision to transfer and appoint comrade Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission, to join the Party Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2020-2025.

Speaking at the Conference, Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu said that since the beginning of the term, despite many difficulties and challenges, under the close leadership and direction, the united efforts of the Standing Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, headed by comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Ho Chi Minh City has achieved many important and comprehensive results in all fields, especially since the merger of Ho Chi Minh City with Binh Duong province and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (formerly). Those results have demonstrated the sense of responsibility, great efforts and high determination of the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City.

Regarding the direction and tasks in the coming term, Ho Chi Minh City needs to establish a new growth model based on science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, developing a knowledge-based economy, and a sharing economy with high added value, to become a civilized, modern city, a center for development, innovation, and dynamic integration.

At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City is exemplary, leading the way in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country and continues to be the economic locomotive of the whole country, has a prominent and important position in the Southeast Asian region and quickly becomes an urban area on par with major cities in the world, the economic, financial and tourist center of Asia.

Ho Chi Minh City must be an attractive global destination - where the economy, culture and society develop harmoniously, uniquely, sustainably and with high quality of life, deep international integration, and be in the top 100 global cities with smart and sustainable development.

The Standing Secretariat requested that Comrade Tran Luu Quang, in his new position as Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, focus his efforts and determination with the comrades in the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee to lead and direct the completion of the contents of documents and successfully organize the Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term.

Comrade Tran Luu Quang said that he will fully absorb the comprehensive and profound guidance of the Standing Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu. These valuable opinions will be concretized in documents, in the action program and in the guidance of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, so that the City can realize the vision, aspirations and wishes of the Party and the people.

According to the decision of the Politburo, comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, ceased to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and ceased to hold the position of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2020-2025.
