Ho Chi Minh City pushes An Phu intersection to complete by end of 2025

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (abbreviated as the Traffic Board) requesting an urgent review of the entire progress and proposing solutions to speed up construction of items at the An Phu Intersection.

The Department of Construction said that at the site inspection and progress review meeting on June 19, 2025, it showed that the actual progress of implementation is still slow, especially the underpass items HC1-01, HC1-02 on the critical path ( gantt) of the project progress has not ensured the set schedule, although the construction started in March 2022.

The delay risks seriously affecting the project's completion date by December 31, 2025.

An Phu intersection currently has only one underpass open to traffic, other projects are behind schedule.

To speed up the construction progress to complete the project by the end of this year, the Department of Construction requested the Traffic Department to prepare a detailed report on the construction status up to the present time, clearly stating the causes of delay and reviewing the responsibilities of related individuals.

After stating the cause, propose specific solutions to compensate for the slow progress.

In addition, to ensure the feasibility of the Project, the Department of Construction requests the Traffic Department to coordinate with construction contractors to commit to completing the remaining items on schedule.

To support contractors with construction sites, the Department of Construction has re-divided traffic in the area, not allowing motorbikes to enter the highway access road; at the same time, Lien Phuong route (from Do Xuan Hop to Cat Lai Intersection) is under construction and is expected to be put into use in October 2025.

The Traffic Department can coordinate with relevant units to consider adjusting the traffic flow organization plan in the area to speed up the construction progress of items at An Phu intersection.

Immediately after that, the Traffic Department accelerated construction and by June 30, 2025, the HC1-01 underpass at An Phu intersection was opened.

The completion of the entire An Phu Interchange is very important in relieving traffic congestion leading to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway and enhancing the connection between Long Thanh International Airport and the center of Ho Chi Minh City when this airport comes into operation.

According to the project progress approved in Decision No. 869/QD-UBND dated March 28, 2022 of the City People's Committee and Ho Chi Minh City's commitment to the Government , An Phu Interchange will be completed before December 31, 2025 for synchronous exploitation with Long Thanh International Airport.

An Phu is a traffic intersection with a very large volume of traffic - the intersection of three major traffic routes (Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, Mai Chi Tho Street, Hanoi Highway), so traffic jams often occur.

The project has a total investment of 3,408 billion VND. According to the original plan, the project will be completed before April 30, 2025. However, up to this point, the project has not been completed on April 30, 2025 and must be postponed until the end of 2025.
