The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just approved the design task for the architectural design competition for Binh Tien Bridge and Road, starting from Pham Van Chi Street (Binh Tien Ward) to Nguyen Van Linh Street (Binh Hung Commune). The 3.66km long project will be built on the scale of an urban main road, with a cross-section of 4 to 6 lanes; the cross-section width is 30-40m.
This is a new radial traffic axis (urban main axis), connecting the city center with the new urban area of South Saigon, Hiep Phuoc Port urban area and connecting with the belt roads 2, 3 and 4 of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the competition aims to find optimal architectural ideas that are highly feasible, unique, modern, distinctive, and create a highlight in the area.
In terms of form, Ho Chi Minh City organizes a wide-ranging competition, with no limit on the number of participating organizations. Consulting units and organizations that register to participate will have their profiles reviewed, evaluated, and invited to participate in the design product implementation round.
The selection council will evaluate, rank, select the optimal idea, report to the competition organizing agency to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for approval and announce the results, and award prizes according to regulations.
Along with the belt and highway projects being invested in, Ho Chi Minh City is currently researching and implementing the construction of a network of high-speed, grade-separated main roads (with few interruptions and few intersections) running through the center connecting with inter-regional roads.
The high-speed main road is a very new idea that the city has researched, proposed and approved by the Prime Minister in the planning. The high-speed main road can be built on high ground, low ground, underground or combined depending on the actual situation.
This network, when fully invested, will be a breakthrough in transportation development, especially when extending to the areas and economic centers of the new Ho Chi Minh City. Binh Tien Bridge and Road is the project that initiates the high-speed urban main road network.
Besides Binh Tien bridge and road, what other high-speed main axes will Ho Chi Minh City build?
According to the plan, Ho Chi Minh City has about 10 main high-speed routes. Specifically, the North-South route 1 is 43.4 km long to solve traffic congestion at Tan Son Nhat airport. In which, the section from An Suong to Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 under the BOT project to expand National Highway 22 is being upgraded to 10 lanes.
National Highway 13 will be upgraded to a high-speed road from Hang Xanh intersection to Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3. In particular, there will be a high-speed main route connecting directly from Nguyen Huu Tho intersection to Long Thanh airport.
In addition, other high-speed main routes such as the Northeast arc road from Go Dua intersection to Go Cong intersection of Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3, 6.1km long; North-South route 2 from Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3 to Phu My bridgehead, 30.4km long; East-West route 1 from the North-South main route 1 to Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3, 14.8km long...
