At the meeting, the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City People's Council announced the number and list of delegates of the 10th term of the Can Tho City People's Council, 2021-2026 term, after the arrangement is 145 delegates. At the same time, the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee was announced on the appointment of Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, to hold the position of Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Council for the 2021-2026 term. At the same time, the appointment of the Vice Chairmen of the Can Tho City People's Council for the 2021-2026 term includes: Ms. Ma Thi Tuoi, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee; Ms. Vo Thi My Trang, member of the City Party Committee; Mr. Ly RoTha, member of the City Party Committee; Mr. Tran Quoc Vu, member of the City Party Committee.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Do Thanh Binh emphasized that the conversion from a 3-level to a 2-level local government model is a historic step of strategic significance, marking a new development stage in the cause of perfecting the State administrative apparatus, perfecting the institutions and organization of a synchronous, streamlined, effective and efficient political system.
The Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee suggested that the City People's Council should quickly complete the arrangement, assignment, and deployment of appropriate staff to ensure smooth, effective, and efficient operations. At the same time, review, adjust, or propose adjustments to the operating regulations and working procedures to suit the new, more expanded, more populous, and more diverse locality. Continue to improve the quality of meetings, the quality of issuing resolutions, and monitoring activities. It is necessary to promptly study and develop key resolutions on socio-economic development, national defense and security, building urban government, and improving people's lives. After the administrative boundaries change, the People's Council is responsible for reviewing and integrating old development strategies and plans into a unified, cohesive whole, and at the same time promulgating new long-term policies that are suitable to the specific conditions of the expanded administrative unit.
Chairman of the People's Council of Can Tho City Dong Van Thanh said that immediately after the meeting, he requested the People's Committee of the city, departments, branches and localities to urgently implement the resolutions of the People's Council, especially to perfect the city government apparatus to operate effectively, closer to the people and capable of solving all tasks to serve the people. At the same time, the People's Council delegates regularly stay close to and listen to the people's thoughts and aspirations to promptly reflect them to the City People's Council.
