(CLO) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has rejected calls for an immediate ceasefire in the war with Russia, saying ending the conflict without detailed security guarantees would be a "failure for everyone".
He stressed that without security guarantees, "no one can control the ceasefire".

Asked about a report in French newspaper Le Figaro that France and Britain had proposed a “month-long ceasefire in the air, at sea and for energy infrastructure”, Mr Zelenskyy declined to comment.
British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said he would work on plans for a stabilisation force for Ukraine, including France and possibly other countries, before presenting them to the US in the hope of persuading Mr Trump to provide support for any European mission.
Mr Zelenskyy said Mr Starmer's announcement was "a good signal", but that more details still needed to be worked out. "We will have a plan of action and a clearer vision of what security guarantees can be given to Ukraine. For us, security guarantees are confidence that the same things will not happen after this heated period," he said.
President Zelenskyy said he had not had direct contact with President Trump since Friday's tense meeting, but there had been communication between officials and he was "ready to continue dialogue".
