French President walks around the Old Quarter, the Cathedral and interacts with Hanoi people

Immediately after finishing the main activities on May 26, French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron walked through the streets of Hanoi, visited the Cathedral and met people on the street.

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife walked from Ngo Quyen - Trang Tien - Trang Thi streets, then turned to Nha Chung, Nha Tho, Hang Trong streets, then continued to stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake before returning to the hotel.

The French President and his wife also visited Hanoi Cathedral. Built in 1884 and inaugurated on Christmas 1887, the Cathedral has a strong ancient Gothic architecture. This is a typical architectural style in Europe. To date, the Cathedral is considered the oldest Catholic church in Hanoi.

During the walk, the President and his wife continuously asked their companions, including French-Vietnamese physics professor Tran Thanh Van, about the capital's landscape.

The President and his wife also shook hands and chatted with people on the street, and after about an hour, returned to the hotel at 10:50 p.m.

Earlier, right after arriving in Hanoi on the evening of May 25, French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron walked around Hoan Kiem Lake and visited Ngoc Son Temple. French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife walked from Ly Thai To Street to Le Lai Street, where the statue of King Ly Thai To is located. Then, the President and his wife visited Ngoc Son Temple and walked around Hoan Kiem Lake.
