The Department of Natural Resources and Environment has completed the land statistics in 2023 in the province. The results show that the total land area in the province's administrative units by the end of 2023 is more than 166,827 hectares, of which agricultural land accounts for 62.37%, non-agricultural land accounts for 37.56%, the rest is unused land area. In the area of ​​the above land groups, the agricultural land area in 2023 of the province decreased by more than 624 hectares compared to 2022 due to the change of land use purpose to other types of land to implement works and projects; the non-agricultural land area increased by 617.64 hectares and the unused land area increased by 6.86 hectares.

The total land area of ​​the province in 2023 decreased by 11.39 hectares compared to the 2019 inventory. The reason for the decrease is due to the adjustment of administrative boundaries between Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city according to Resolution No. 59/NQ-CP dated April 28, 2020 of the Government on "Determining the administrative boundaries between Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city at Quy Cao Farm due to historical reasons".
