Gia Lai tourism is entering a breakthrough phase, when the green forest and the ocean meet, opening up a new land of experiences, rich in identity.

On July 9, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province organized a celebration of the 65th anniversary of the traditional day of Vietnam Tourism (July 9, 1960 - July 9, 2025) in the context of Gia Lai tourism's strong transformation. Not only reviewing the proud journey of the industry, the event also opened up a new vision for the sustainable tourism development strategy in the new period.

From July 1, Gia Lai province was established on the basis of merging Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces, creating a rare land, where two tourism souls converge: the vast green forest and the immense blue sea. This place has the echoes of gongs mixed with the sound of waves of Ky Co - Eo Gio, the yellow color of wild sunflowers blooming all over the hills and the ancient shape of Cham towers that have stood the test of time.

According to Ms. Do Thi Dieu Hanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province, this merger opens up opportunities for comprehensive development of Gia Lai tourism. With a modern transport infrastructure system including seaports, airports, highways, border gates and a climate with different seasons between the two slopes of Truong Son, Gia Lai can retain tourists all year round, without worrying about the low season.

From beach resorts to mountain and forest exploration, from cultural experiences to adventure sports, health care... Gia Lai tourism is being systematically planned, aiming to become one of the five pillars of economic development of the province. Places such as Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya (formerly Gia Lai province) or Phuong Mai peninsula (formerly Binh Dinh province) are gradually positioning themselves to become national tourist areas. In addition, festivals such as the Wild Sunflower Festival, the Summer Festival, Ba - Nuoc Man Pagoda or sports events, international scientific conferences... will become the "harvest season" of tourists every year.

Not stopping at natural and cultural resources, Gia Lai tourism is accelerating digital transformation. The implementation of Gia Lai tourism application, digitizing destinations via QR codes, accommodation databases, smart management... is helping the industry approach the world's smart tourism trend. The messages of "3K tourism" (no price hike, no competition for customers, no pollution) and "3A" (traffic safety, hygiene, life) are also spreading, creating a civilized and friendly tourism environment.

In particular, Gia Lai aims to develop green tourism, associated with clean agriculture, indigenous culture and science. Many relics such as the Twin Towers and Banh It Towers are being put into the model of "service rental associated with promoting the value of relics", creating livelihoods for the community and enriching tourist itineraries. Phu Gia conical hat weaving craft, gong cultural space, Ba - Nuoc Man Pagoda Festival... have been recognized as national intangible cultural heritages, becoming highlights in Gia Lai's tourism identity.

In the first 6 months of 2025, Gia Lai tourism recorded strong progress with nearly 7.4 million visitors, total revenue reaching more than 17,340 billion VND. In particular, Binh Dinh area (old) continued to be an "attractive spot" with about 6.5 million visitors, while Gia Lai area (old) also welcomed nearly 890,000 visitors, showing the increasingly widespread influence of mountain tourism.

With this growth momentum, Gia Lai tourism industry expects to welcome 11.8 million visitors (up 12% compared to last year), with revenue reaching 28,500 billion VND.
