Monitoring data shows that at 9:00 a.m. on September 19, the upstream water level of Thac Ba Lake was at 57.19 m; the water flow to the lake was 432 m3/s, the discharge flow was 738 m3/s.

Implementing the process of operating inter-reservoirs in the Red River basin according to the provisions of Decision No. 740/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, on the afternoon of September 19, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued a telegram ordering Thac Ba Hydropower Joint Stock Company to operate flood discharge gates.

Accordingly, from 2:00 p.m. on September 19, Thac Ba Hydropower Joint Stock Company closed two spillway gates. Thus, all spillway gates of this enterprise will be closed after 2:00 p.m. this afternoon.

With the Thac Ba Hydropower Joint Stock Company closing the last two floodgates, there are currently no hydropower reservoirs in the Red River basin to discharge floodwaters. The water level downstream of the Red River will continue to change in the coming hours.

On the same afternoon, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development sent a dispatch to 4 provinces and cities: Yen Bai , Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc and Hanoi, requesting to focus on implementing solutions to ensure safety in downstream areas when operating the Thac Ba hydropower reservoir.
