Director of the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) Bruno Kahl said that currently no intelligence agency can name the people who carried out the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline.

"No country, no intelligence agency in the world can attribute this (the Nord Stream sabotage) to anyone in particular. But this will change, there have been some notable successes in the investigations," Mr Kahl said.

The BND director noted that the location of the sabotage was under the sea, making the work of investigators much more difficult.

Investigations are being conducted “in different directions,” Mr. Kahl added.

On May 21, the German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung reported that at least two Ukrainians participated in the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines.

European publications also reported that investigators are considering scenarios of what happened, in which the facts show a “Ukrainian trace”.

However, the German Federal Prosecutor's Office did not comment when asked about the issue.

On the Russian side, on May 12, Deputy Chairman of the Russian National Security Council Dmitry Medvedev announced that Moscow will continue to use all available legal tools to hold accountable those behind the series of explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

However, he also noted that the possibility of bringing the above subjects to international courts is very small.
