As of May 31, the whole province had 5,042 AO victims enjoying preferential policies of the State. Associations at all levels focus on mastering regulations and policies related to AO victims to advise, guide and help members complete procedures to enjoy policies according to regulations.

Caring for the lives of victims of Agent Orange is the responsibility of the State and the whole society. Over the past time, the joint efforts of the entire political system, departments, branches, organizations, and the people, especially the constant efforts of each victim of Agent Orange, have contributed to easing the pain and helping the victims have a better life.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province (left cover), together with Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tinh, Vice Chairman of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in the province, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Chairman of the Management Board of the Fund for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Ca Mau province, presented gifts to the children of Ms. Nguyen Thi Nuong.

Together with the delegation of officials of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of the province and the local government of Khanh An commune, we visited the family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nuong, in Hamlet 1. Seeing Mrs. Nuong's 5 sons mentally unstable, due to the influence of their father who participated in the resistance war against the US, everyone felt sorry. More than 2 years ago, her husband became seriously ill and passed away, leaving her alone to raise 5 mentally unstable children. Understanding the situation, the local government often cares and visits.

Mrs. Nuong said: “Family life is difficult, the 5 children are sometimes awake, sometimes unconscious, out of control. I am old, I do not make any money, currently the daily life of the 6 people in the family depends entirely on the regular support from the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of the commune."

Family life is temporarily stable, no need to worry about food, Mrs. Nuong has the conditions to take care of her children, from the care, encouragement, sharing, helping her to ease some of the pain.

Similarly, Ms. Cao Y Tang, 43 years old, one of the AO victims in Bao Nhan hamlet, Ho Thi Ky commune, shared: “I was infected with Agent Orange, paralyzed in both legs, had difficulty walking, and my family's life was not very well off, but with the attention of all levels, sectors, and social organizations who regularly visited, encouraged, helped, and created conditions for my husband and I to overcome difficulties. In addition to the monthly allowance, my husband and I sell lottery tickets every day, and our income is also moderate, so our family life is relatively stable. On holidays and Tet, I was visited, given gifts, and encouraged to build a new house for me. I am very touched and grateful to the leaders at all levels.”

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Chairman of the Management Board of the Fund for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of Ca Mau province, presented a gift to Ms. Cao Y Tang.

Not only Mrs. Nuong and Ms. Tang, but also many families of Agent Orange victims in the province have received attention and care from all levels, sectors and benefactors. In addition to gifts, there is also encouragement and sharing in spirit.

In the first 6 months of the year, the Associations at all levels proactively developed plans, took advantage of the leadership of Party committees and authorities, focused on mobilizing and providing assistance in many appropriate forms. The Associations at all levels coordinated to mobilize and implement policies with a total amount of money and materials of over 21 billion VND, caring for and helping thousands of victims, building new and repairing houses, traffic bridges, giving bicycles, wheelchairs, wheelchairs, rice, medical examination and treatment, drilling water pumps... In addition, the Associations at all levels maintained a good source of capital for AO victims to borrow for production, business, livestock and cultivation with an amount of over 1.7 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Chairman of the Management Board of the Fund for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Ca Mau province, said: “Through the fund, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in the province has implemented many practical activities such as: Organizing meetings, giving gifts on holidays and Tet, supporting loans... Through that, many members have become self-reliant, developed the economy , and raised their children.”

64 years have passed, the pain still exists in many families, however, with the determination and care of the Party and State, Agent Orange victims and their families have been given strength to ease the pain and stabilize their lives.

On the occasion of the 64th anniversary of Agent Orange Disaster Day, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Ca Mau province organized a visit and presented gifts to victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in difficult circumstances in 64 communes and wards. Each unit selected 3 beneficiaries, each gift worth 800,000 VND.
