Promoting regional e-commerce linkages

ĐNO - From 2023 to present, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) has coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang to organize a series of activities to promote regional linkages in e-commerce, contributing to spreading the brands of Vietnamese products in general and Da Nang in particular to the international market.

Breakthrough from local advantages

According to Mr. Phan Manh Ha, Director of External Relations of Shopee Vietnam Co., Ltd., Da Nang is a young, dynamic city, located in the center of the Central region. These are advantages that give Da Nang great potential in developing e-commerce.

Vendors in Da Nang are considered to have quite good e-commerce skills, surpassing those in other regions. “With the advantages of local products and geographical location, distributors and vendors can not only sell to consumers in Da Nang and Quang Nam (old) but can also expand to other central provinces,” said Mr. Ha.

According to Mr. Ha, Da Nang can absolutely learn and apply the “provincial booth” model on Shopee like other localities. This is one of the key initiatives within the framework of the Shopee Enables SMEs program to promote local products and boost consumption through e-commerce.

With the available advantages and determination of the local government, we expect to create a destination booth for Da Nang's e-commerce on the Shopee trading platform. From there, contribute to making Da Nang an important e-commerce center of the Central region"

Mr. Phan Manh Ha, Director of External Affairs, Shopee Vietnam Co., Ltd.

Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh, representative of TikTok Vietnam, shared that regional linkage models have created a strong effect, attracting the attention of businesses from many provinces and cities, especially localities with common features in raw materials, culture, and products.

For example, the livestream session in Lai Chau province in 2025 recorded 50 million views with the hashtag #NongsanLaiChau. The livestream session on the morning of August 1 in Da Nang alone reached 4 million views, 337,000 views, many times more than a large fair, and there were products reaching 250 orders in just 20 minutes.

Mr. Thanh also proposed to build a common hashtag “#lienketvung” and a content synthesis page to store videos, initiatives, and support from businesses in each region. In addition, expanding the scale of the program to specific regions such as coastal areas and craft villages; at the same time, building a brand identity and organizing more events in the future.

Accompanying businesses in digital transformation

According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang, to date, the city has more than 552 OCOP products (the program "One Commune One Product") and hundreds of typical rural industrial products, specialties and typical goods.

At the same time, the city organized more than 30 training courses, seminars, and digital transformation training programs, with nearly 3,000 participants from enterprises, cooperatives, small businesses, and small traders on digital transformation. This is an important foundation for the city to access and develop sales channels through local and cross-border e-commerce platforms.

Mr. Huynh Xuan Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang, said that recently, the city has implemented many solutions to promote e-commerce development such as: operating Da Nang e-commerce sites and floors; online shopping maps.

At the same time, deploy many policies, instructions, and support for typical and characteristic OCOP and rural industrial enterprises to participate in domestic and international e-commerce platforms; deploy the model of "4.0 market", "cashless payment street" at markets and streets, combined with support for QR stamps for traceability and instructions for digital payment.

However, local e-commerce activities still face many challenges due to limitations in equipment, digital skills and investment resources. Access to e-commerce is fragmented and easily dependent on intermediary platforms. In addition, there is a digital gap between urban and rural areas; fraud and lack of transparency in the online environment continue to affect market confidence.

In the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade will coordinate with relevant units to continue implementing digital transformation training programs for the business community and small traders, promote the development of digital market models; support businesses to participate in multi-channel and cross-border e-commerce, and bring local products into the global value chain through cooperation with international e-commerce platforms."

Mr. Huynh Xuan Son, Deputy Director of Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang city

Ms. Le Hoang Oanh, Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, informed that from 2023 to present, a series of activities to promote regional linkages in e-commerce have been organized in many provinces and cities, creating a positive spillover effect.

To date, the program has connected more than 300 manufacturing and trading enterprises in the region with digital platform providers, logistics, payments, etc., gradually forming a supply chain and consuming products in the online environment.

The Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy will develop an implementation plan in line with the orientation of the National E-commerce Development Plan for the period 2026 - 2030.

At the same time, the Department continues to support and advise on policies and coordinate the implementation of regional e-commerce programs, contributing to realizing the goal of developing green - circular - sustainable e-commerce in the coming period.
