Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a friendly meeting with the Liaison Committee of the Public Security Forces supporting the Southern battlefield.

In the exciting atmosphere of the whole country celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (1945 - 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces' tradition day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), on the afternoon of August 25, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a cordial meeting with the Public Security Liaison Committee supporting the Southern battlefield.

Also attending the meeting were Politburo member, Minister of Public Security , General Luong Tam Quang; leaders of the Ministry of Public Security; leaders of the Vietnam People's Police Veterans Association.

Implementing the Central Resolution, with the spirit of "All for the great frontline", "All for the beloved South", during the resistance war against the US to save the country from 1954 to April 30, 1975, the Ministry of Public Security sent more than 11,200 excellent police officers to the Southern battlefield.

The police officers supporting the southern battlefields did not fear difficulties and hardships, united, overcame all challenges, fought steadfastly, sacrificed bravely, achieved many feats and outstanding achievements, and together with the southern security forces did a good job of grasping the situation, providing information, and liaison and guiding the way; steadfastly stayed on the land and the people, destroyed evil, and fought to defeat the enemy's intelligence and espionage plans, "pacification" and "recruitment" activities.

The support force contributed to protecting the safety of the headquarters of the Central Office for Southern Vietnam, strongly attacking the key agencies of the US - puppet regime in the southern cities and rural areas, serving well the requirements and political tasks of the southern revolution, contributing to the Great Victory of Spring 1975, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, completely liberating the South and unifying the country.

In that life-and-death battle, 909 police officers supporting the Southern battlefield heroically sacrificed their lives; 46 people were captured, imprisoned, and brutally tortured by the enemy but still maintained their revolutionary spirit; thousands of officers were injured or infected with Agent Orange/dioxin...

In recognition of the outstanding achievements of the force, on September 1, 2020, the Public Security force supporting the Southern battlefield was honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces during the resistance war against the US to save the country by the President. 21 individuals were awarded and posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces; many people were awarded other noble awards. In particular, comrade Tran Quoc Huong was awarded the Gold Star Order and the Ho Chi Minh Order; comrades Bui Thien Ngo and Nguyen Tai were awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order...

At the meeting, representatives of the Liaison Committee of the Public Security Forces supporting the Southern battlefield expressed their excitement at witnessing the country’s innovation and development, ready to enter a new era – the era of national development. In particular, the whole country has carried out the reorganization of the apparatus and the organization of two-level local governments; promoted infrastructure development, most recently by simultaneously starting and inaugurating 250 works and projects nationwide.

The delegates expressed their belief that the Government and the Prime Minister, together with the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary To Lam, will lead the Vietnamese people in the new era to achieve great achievements on the path of building a prosperous, strong, equitable, democratic and civilized Vietnam. The delegates of the Liaison Committee of the Public Security Forces to the Southern battlefield said that they will continue to carry on the tradition, do a good job of repaying gratitude, and at the same time support and actively contribute to the cause of national construction and development of the entire Party, army and people.

Speaking at the meeting, expressing his emotion at meeting again with the delegates of the Public Security Liaison Committee supporting the Southern battlefield, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the delegates are symbols of loyalty, indomitability, intelligence, courage, not afraid of hardships and dangers, ready to sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the country and the Vietnamese people; with the immortal spirit of "As long as the Party exists, we exist", "For the country, the army is dear, for the people, serve", "Honor is the most sacred and noble thing".

According to the Prime Minister, the contributions and sacrifices of comrades have created motivation and inspiration for future generations to follow; they are invaluable assets of the People's Public Security force and the heroic historical tradition of the Vietnamese people in general.

Reviewing history, the Prime Minister said that the resistance war against the US to save the country was one of the most heroic pages of the nation's history, the greatest victory of the revolutionary cause led by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh. With the spirit of "All for the great front", "All for the beloved South", millions of the nation's outstanding sons fought bravely, sacrificed, and gave their blood and bones for the Fatherland. Among them, the heroic People's Public Security force was present in all battlefields and fronts and made great contributions to the victory on April 30, 1975, bringing the country back together.

Sharing simple but heroic stories, the Prime Minister affirmed that in any position, no matter what the task, no matter how difficult or dangerous, the police officers supporting the Southern battlefield still shined with heroic qualities, resilience, not afraid of sacrifice, hardship, fighting and defeating the enemy; achieving many feats and outstanding achievements, together with the army and people of the whole country, defeating the US imperialists, liberating the South, and unifying the country.

In the fierce and arduous battles, hundreds of comrades heroically sacrificed their lives; many comrades were captured, imprisoned, and brutally tortured by the enemy, but they still maintained the spirit of the revolutionary police, devoted themselves to the Party and the people, embellishing the glorious tradition of the heroic People's Police force and the heroic Vietnamese nation.

The Prime Minister said that in peacetime, the police comrades supporting the southern battlefields have constantly made efforts, strived, contributed and devoted themselves to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; continued to achieve resounding feats, many comrades were trusted and assigned important responsibilities in the People's Police force.

You, my brothers and sisters, are now old but still actively participate in educating about traditions, comradeship, social work, charity, contributing ideas to build policies of the Party and State and building the People's Public Security force, contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Believing that the police officers supporting the southern battlefields are shining examples of revolutionary qualities and bravery of the People's Police soldiers, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Party, State and people will forever be deeply grateful to the heroic martyrs, including the police officers supporting the southern battlefields who heroically sacrificed and made great contributions to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, and to the peaceful and happy life of the people.

Emphasizing that the contributions and sacrifices of the People's Public Security in general, as well as of the comrades participating in supporting the South, are countless, the Prime Minister requested ministries, branches, localities, especially the Ministry of Public Security, to continue promoting the tradition of "Repaying gratitude", paying attention to and implementing policies well for families of policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious services in general, and comrades of the Public Security officers supporting the Southern battlefield in particular.

In order for the stories about the indomitable struggle and sacrifice of the Public Security officers supporting the Southern battlefield to not only be historical memories, but also to fuel the tradition for the younger generation, to repay the meritorious and show gratitude to comrades, the Prime Minister requested the Liaison Committee to maintain regular activities, organize meaningful and humane events, contributing to beautifying the image of the People's Public Security officers; build a Memorial Monument for the Public Security Officers Supporting the Southern Battlefield at the People's Security Academy Square; publish books, works, films, and reports of high value in educating the younger generation about traditions.

Entering a new era of development, our country is implementing many historic policies, realizing strategic goals to develop a prosperous, prosperous, civilized, happy country, improving the quality of all aspects of people's lives. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that the police officers supporting the Southern battlefield with steadfast political will, resilient and indomitable spirit, "Old age, bright example" continue to actively participate in contributing opinions, implementing the Party and State's policies and guidelines on building and protecting the Fatherland, ensuring security and order, especially at the grassroots level; continue to encourage, motivate, inspire, create motivation, and educate traditions so that police officers, soldiers and people continue to strive to firmly protect security and order, contributing to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.
