Prime Minister asks South Korea to support training of semiconductor and AI human resources

The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea agreed to work with the National Assembly of Vietnam to promote the two countries' governments in protecting and supporting the overseas Vietnamese communities of the two countries to live stably.

During his official visit to South Korea, on the morning of July 2 (local time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Speaker of the South Korean National Assembly Woo Won-shik.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Woo Won-shik welcomed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Korea - the first visit by a top Vietnamese leader since the two countries upgraded their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea believes that the visit will contribute to further deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, contributing to promoting the concretization of bilateral relations under the new framework. He congratulated Vietnam on its socio -economic development achievements in recent times. At the same time, he assessed that the two countries share many similarities in history, culture, priorities in economic development such as digital transformation, green transformation, climate change response as well as complement each other in terms of economy and human resources. Speaker Woo Won-shik affirmed that the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea will closely cooperate with the National Assembly of Vietnam to support the Governments of the two countries in effectively and substantially implementing the action program to implement the new framework and promoting cooperation in economic security and connecting human resources. Expressing his joy at visiting the beautiful and hospitable country of Korea, the Prime Minister thanked the warm and thoughtful reception and congratulated Mr. Woo Won-shik on his recent election as Speaker of the Korean National Assembly.

The two sides assessed that the Vietnam-Korea relationship has developed rapidly and substantially in many areas since the two sides upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, with positive results in trade, investment and people-to-people exchange. At the same time, they agreed to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies in the coming time. They should promote exchanges of delegations of National Assembly leaders and leaders of specialized committees, promote exchanges between parliamentarians and young parliamentarians of the two countries' National Assemblies, as well as promote the bridging role of friendship parliamentary groups of each country. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two countries' National Assemblies cooperate closely to effectively implement bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms; support and approve policies to support Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply in the global supply chain of Korean enterprises. The Prime Minister also suggested that the Korean side continue to open its doors further to Vietnam's key export goods, including agricultural and aquatic products. In particular, promote cooperation between the two countries in the fields of digital transformation and green transformation; propose that Korea support Vietnam in training human resources in fields such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI)...

Promote cultural exchange, tourism cooperation, local and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, thereby enhancing understanding between the people of the two countries, creating a foundation for sustainable development of relations between the two countries. Also at the meeting, the two sides exchanged opinions on regional and international issues of mutual concern; agreed to coordinate and support each other at international organizations. On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Chairman Woo Won-shik to visit Vietnam soon. Chairman Woo Won-shik happily accepted the invitation.
