On the evening of February 20, the Russian military launched large-scale coordinated attacks on targets in Ukraine. As a result, infrastructure facilities in the city of Kremenchug were attacked. According to the statement, this facility is used to provide logistical support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, attacks were also carried out in the vicinity of the city of Dnepr (Dnepropetrovsk). According to preliminary information, a missile launcher used to protect the airport was destroyed. According to AVP, Geranium suicide drones were used to carry out the attacks.
Another attack was also recorded in Chuguev, Kharkov region. Chuguev is expected to transfer troops to the Kupyansk region to participate in Ukraine's counter-offensive operations.
In the Ugleda direction, Russian troops advanced to the village of Pobeda. In this direction, Russia made significant advances and successfully took control of important strategic positions in the area of the O0532 Maryinka-Ugledar highway. After heavy shelling of Ukrainian positions, Russian troops advanced to the important defense center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces north of Ugledar.
In parallel with this offensive, the Russian army also consolidated their positions in the village of Novomikhailovka, southeast of Pobeda.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are strengthening their defenses in the village of Pobeda. The Ukrainian command understands that losing this important area could force them to retreat towards Ugledar. This puts the Ukrainian Armed Forces in an extremely disadvantageous position, with their soldiers being forced into a pincer movement.
Earlier, Ukraine had to hastily withdraw its troops from Avdeevka after fierce attacks by Russia. The loss of control over the important defensive position, the coke plant in Avdeevka, forced Ukrainian forces to retreat and consolidate their defenses.
In a statement on Sunday, the Russian Defense Ministry said Russia's Central Group of Forces had taken "full control" of the facility located on the northern outskirts of the city.
The Russian Defense Ministry also shared aerial footage of heavy fighting in the area, with multiple explosions occurring around the coke plant. The plant was Ukraine’s largest coke producer before the conflict began in February 2022. The facility has since become a mainstay of Kiev’s defenses in the area, and is highly regarded for its fortified fortifications.
