Ho Dynasty Citadel – Vietnam's masterpiece of stone architecture

The Ho Dynasty Citadel (also known as Tay Do Citadel, An Ton Citadel, Tay Kinh Citadel or Tay Giai Citadel) was once the capital of Dai Ngu under the Ho Dynasty, located in Thanh Hoa Province. This is a solid stone architectural work, of a rare large scale in Vietnam, and is also the only remaining stone citadel in Southeast Asia and one of the few remaining in the world. Notably, the citadel was built in only about 3 months (from January to March 1397). After more than 6 centuries, many sections of the citadel still retain their almost intact shape, proving the masterful construction techniques of our ancestors.
