Beating Indonesia U19 women, Vietnam U19 enters the final

(PLVN) - Vietnam U19 women's team will meet Thailand U19 women's team in the final of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 women's team.

Despite some difficulties at the starting point, the Vietnam U19 women's team overcame them and won a resounding victory over the Indonesia U19 women's team in the semi-finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship on the evening of June 16. This resounding victory helped Mr. Okiyama Masahiko's team advance to the final to compete for the championship with the Thailand U19 women's team.

Entering the match, Coach Okiyama Masahiko deployed the optimal lineup to help the U19 women's team of Vietnam dominate the game. The home team's midfield controlled the ball, causing the communication between the lines of the U19 women of Indonesia to be no longer seamless and they had to struggle to defend. Despite having the advantage of a strong physique and physical strength, that advantage did not help the U19 women of Indonesia stand firm against the overwhelming attacks of the U19 women of Vietnam.

The home team's opening goal came from a set piece after a free kick from about 35m away in the 8th minute. From this move, Hong Minh took a technical shot, sending the ball straight into the top corner of the Indonesian U19 women's goal, opening the score for the Vietnamese U19 women's team.

When the opponent's defensive plan was ruined, the U19 Vietnam women's team played more comfortably. After a few missed opportunities, Okiyama Masahiko's team finally scored the second goal in the 38th minute.

Hoai Trinh's efforts in the penalty area helped Hoang Van control the ball. This striker made a turn to get past the Indonesian U19 female defender and then fired a low shot, scoring the second goal for the home team.

At the beginning of the second half, coach Okiyama Masahiko made two adjustments to help the U19 women's team have more breakthroughs in new faces, while at the same time, saving energy for the pillars. Just after 2 minutes of the second half, the home team scored the third goal. After a siege, Hoai Trinh, after a direct shot in the 47th minute, raised the score to 3-0.

In the 53rd minute, Hoang Van curled the ball right in the penalty area, scoring the fourth goal for the home team, and also scoring a double for himself. Vietnam U19 women's team continued to dominate the game after that and created many scoring opportunities but no more goals were scored. In the end, Mr. Okiyama Masahiko's students defeated Indonesia U19 women's team with a score of 4-0.

The opponent of Vietnam U19 women's team in the final match is Thailand U19 women's team. In the previous semi-final match, the defending champion defeated Myanmar U19 women's team with a score of 5-1.
