The last days of June 2025 were memorable for Ms. Ha Thi Tuyet (born in 1985), in Liem Cong Tay village, Hien Thanh commune, Vinh Linh district. For the first time, she had the opportunity to join more than 100 other disabled athletes in the province to participate in the event "Running with the disabled" "No distance, no limit in 2025" organized by the Association of the Disabled, NNDC, BTNKT & BVQTE of the province in coordination with non -governmental organizations.
The event aims to enhance opportunities and raise the status of people with disabilities; at the same time, contribute to removing barriers and promoting the participation of people with disabilities in sports and social activities, so that no one is left behind.
It is known that this is the third time the event has been held nationwide and the second time it has been held in Quang Tri . Eagerly preparing for the big festival for the disabled, early that morning, Ms. Tuyet and the athletes from Vinh Linh district moved to Dong Ha city. At that time, Co Dau park was crowded with athletes waiting for the event to take place. After the whistle blew, the race officially began. Under the sun of a summer day in June, the athletes rushed to the finish line amid the cheers and encouragement of the organizers and fans. The heat from the race track combined with the excitement and enthusiasm of the participants created an impressive space.
The successful event that day left Tuyet with an indescribable joy. For her, it was not only a playground, giving her the opportunity to interact and meet disabled people from many different regions, but also giving her and the athletes more motivation to be confident and integrate into the community. Confiding to reporters, the petite woman said that since childhood, she had to live with an inferiority complex due to the ridicule of people around her because she lost an arm.
However, later, thanks to the timely attention of the associations at all levels, especially participating in many useful playgrounds organized and coordinated by the Association of the Disabled, NNDC, and the Provincial People's Committee for the Disabled and the Disabled, she gradually regained her confidence in life. "Playgrounds for the disabled, of which the Running with the Disabled event is an example, help us to be happy and active; boldly express our thoughts and abilities, things that were once limited by self-consciousness. Through that, we learn to overcome our complexes, live more positively and confidently on the journey ahead," said Ms. Tuyet.
According to information from the Association of PWDs, NNDC, BTNKT&BVQTE of Quang Tri province, the whole province currently has 15,600 people with disabilities and 6,865 Agent Orange victims. In order to realize the right to participate and enjoy the cultural and spiritual life of people with disabilities, in recent years, in addition to activities to support the improvement of material life and living conditions for people with disabilities, associations at all levels in the province have made efforts to organize and coordinate activities, creating useful playgrounds, thereby encouraging the spirit of people with disabilities, helping them to be confident and strive to integrate into the community.
In addition to the event Running with the Disabled that just took place, the Association of the Disabled, the Disabled, the Disabled and the Disabled People of Quang Tri province also organized an art competition with the theme "Singing from the heart", the first art competition for the disabled in Quang Tri province - 2024 with the theme "Hearts of Aspiration" or a painting competition about the disabled... Each activity and program attracted the participation and response of a large number of disabled members.
Chairman of the Association of the Disabled, NNDC, BTNKT & BVQTE of Thai Vinh Lieu province affirmed that in recent times, in addition to the special attention of the province for people with disabilities with specific, timely and practical policies, the Provincial Association also regularly connects and creates useful playgrounds, thereby encouraging, motivating and cheering for people with disabilities to have equal opportunities, promote their abilities, strive to integrate and contribute to society. From these playgrounds, many people with disabilities have become shining examples, inspiring the will to rise up in life.
“The Association of the Disabled, the Disabled, and the Provincial Association of the Disabled are always proud of having created motivation for members to strive. This is clear evidence that people with disabilities can overcome all barriers and live a useful life. In the coming time, we will continue to expand playgrounds, bringing more opportunities for people with disabilities to develop their talents and intelligence,” said Mr. Lieu.
