Specifically, based on forecasts for storm No. 5, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam decided to temporarily suspend operations at Tho Xuan Airport ( Thanh Hoa ) from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on August 25; and temporarily suspend operations at Dong Hoi Airport from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on August 25.
The two airports have temporarily stopped receiving aircraft to ensure absolute safety for passengers, people, property and equipment due to the impact of storm No. 5.
Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam issued an urgent document to relevant units to proactively prevent and respond to storm No. 5.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the airports forecast to be directly affected by storm No. 5 include Tho Xuan, Vinh, Dong Hoi and Phu Bai. Of these, Vinh airport is currently closed for runway repairs.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has requested agencies and units to organize 24/7 duty; strictly implement procedures for responding to storms and tropical depressions in civil aviation activities; proactively update meteorological information to promptly propose appropriate and safe exploitation plans.
According to Vietnam Airlines , due to the impact of storm No. 5 on August 24, the airline canceled 6 flights between Hanoi and Hue. On August 25, flights between Hanoi and Hue were adjusted in operating time, expected to take off and land after 12 hours.
On August 25, 4 flights between Hanoi and Dong Hoi of Vietnam Airlines were canceled.
Similarly, on August 25, 12 flights of the airline between Thanh Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City were canceled.
In addition, Vietnam Airlines said many domestic and international flights on August 25 may be affected by the development of storm No. 5. Affected passengers will be supported by the airline according to regulations.
