The attraction of the Vietnam Military History Museum is created first of all by the innovations in the space for displaying artifacts. As a key cultural project, the Museum owns a large space with an area of tens of thousands of square meters, divided into many display areas according to each historical period. Historical artifacts such as MiG-21 aircraft numbered 5121, T-54 tank numbered 843 (national treasure), or heavy artillery guns displayed outdoors, both demonstrating military strength and symbolizing the nation's resilient fighting spirit, have attracted a large number of visitors. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Military History Museum, said: The Museum currently preserves more than 150,000 artifacts, including 4 national treasures. Each artifact is associated with a separate historical story, helping visitors understand more deeply about the heroic feats and sacrifices of the Vietnamese people. The museum space is large but effectively arranged: the exhibition spaces are arranged according to historical milestones, historical periods of Vietnam, prominent events/exhibited artifacts are displayed intuitively and vividly, clearly noted. This has created a special attraction for history lovers, especially those who want to better understand Vietnam's glorious victories in the resistance wars. In addition, innovations in applying modern technology to exhibition activities have also made a big difference, helping the Vietnam Military History Museum attract a large number of visitors. The video description system/3D mapping of major battles and famous battles has made historical events vivid, close and accessible. Mr. Le Duc Hoa, a visitor from Nghe An province, shared: “I am very impressed with the space and the way the artifacts are displayed at the Vietnam Military History Museum. The arrangement and display of artifacts, and especially the use of technology to recreate the battles, gave me the opportunity to stand close to the legendary weapons that participated in Vietnam's historical battles. I felt like I was directly participating in each battle.” Another factor that should be mentioned is that the free admission from November 1 to the end of December has helped the Museum attract a large number of domestic tourists; at the same time, creating opportunities for many international tourists to visit and learn about Vietnam's history. With the number of visitors in the first days of opening reaching about 25,000 - 30,000, the Vietnam Military History Museum has had an "attraction" equivalent to the most visited museums in the world such as the Louvre in Paris (France), the National Museum of Natural History in the US, the National Museum of China... |
Many precious artifacts from the nation's periods of building and defending the country are displayed at the Museum.
Speaking to reporters of the Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper, Dr. Do Ngoc Van, Director of the Institute for Social Studies, said: "In recent days, the Vietnam Military History Museum has attracted a large number of visitors, which is a positive sign. Tens of thousands of visitors to the Museum every day reflect the public's need to learn about historical traditions and military cultural values crystallized in the system of exhibits associated with the thousands of years of struggle to build and defend the country of the Vietnamese people." In fact, the Vietnam Military History Museum is the largest, most modern, and newest military museum compared to other museums in Hanoi today. The application of technology such as video descriptions/3D mapping of major, dramatic battles... has made history no longer dry stories but come alive; helping visitors have interesting experiences and a clearer picture of history. |
The Vietnam Military History Museum is the largest, most modern, and newest military-themed museum compared to other museums in Hanoi today.
However, the large number of visitors, especially on weekends, has also caused many difficulties in management and security at the Vietnam Military History Museum. After the first few days of opening, the Museum became the focus of public opinion because of unsightly images such as many visitors touching, touching, and even climbing on artifacts. Despite the prohibition signs, some parents still let their children climb on artifacts and happily take pictures... Some visitors even climbed to the roof of the Museum to take pictures and film. In response to the above phenomena, the Museum has arranged additional rope systems around the artifacts in the house, ensuring the distance between visitors and the artifacts; at the same time, increased patrol forces to control all the paths to the upper floors, the paths leading to the construction areas,... Up to now, after nearly 1 month of opening, the Vietnam Military History Museum is still attracting the attention of many visitors. The number of visitors each day reaching tens of thousands is a positive signal showing that the museum system in general, and the Vietnam Military History Museum in particular, is playing a good rolein educating about traditional history, contributing to preserving and spreading the cultural values of defending the country in the heroic history of the Vietnamese people./.
