Early completion of remaining items of the North-South expressway project in the East through Ha Tinh and Quang Tri

(Baohatinh.vn) - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung requested relevant ministries, branches and localities to speed up the implementation of 5 component projects of the North-South Expressway in the East, with a plan to complete in 2025 in the two provinces of Ha Tinh and Quang Tri.

The Government Office issued Document No. 8190/VPCP-CN dated September 3, 2025 conveying the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung on 5 component projects of the Eastern North-South Expressway, scheduled to be completed in 2025 in Ha Tinh and Quang Tri provinces.

On August 28, the Vung Ang - Bung expressway connecting Ha Tinh with Quang Tri was officially put into operation.

Official dispatch No. 8190/VPCP-CN dated September 3, 2025 of the Government Office clearly stated: According to the report of the Ministry of Construction , up to now, all 5 component projects of the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang, Vung Ang - Bung, Bung - Van Ninh, Van Ninh - Cam Lo sections in the two provinces of Ha Tinh and Quang Tri under the North - South Eastern Expressway Construction Project in the 2021 - 2025 period have basically completed the main expressway route, opened to traffic and put into operation 259.2 km of expressway, meeting the progress required by the Government (the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang project alone has been completely completed).

To complete the remaining items of the component projects, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung requested the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to mobilize the entire political system to resolutely direct the completion of site clearance for the remaining areas (reservoir roads, rest stops, etc.) of the three component projects Vung Ang - Bung, Bung - Van Ninh, Van Ninh - Cam Lo before September 15, 2025; have solutions to protect construction (at some locations where people obstruct construction) so that contractors can organize construction to complete the projects according to the required schedule.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to resolutely direct the completion of site clearance for the remaining areas (reservoir roads, rest stops, etc.) of the three component projects of Vung Ang - Bung, Bung - Van Ninh, Van Ninh - Cam Lo before September 15, 2025.

The Ministry of Construction urgently directed investors and contractors to concentrate all resources, continue to promote the spirit of "overcoming the sun and rain, not losing to storms and winds", "working day and night, working extra on holidays", "going through holidays and Tet", "eating quickly, sleeping urgently", "working in 3 shifts, 4 shifts"... to construct, striving to complete the 2 component projects Vung Ang - Bung, Bung - Van Ninh in September 2025, and complete the Van Ninh - Cam Lo component project in October 2025.

At the same time, the Ministry of Construction urgently directed investors and the Vietnam Road Administration to actively speed up the implementation of traffic monitoring and control projects and rest stops, striving to complete them before December 31, 2025.

The 5 expressway component projects have a length of 259.16 km, with a total investment of 49,206 billion VND, in the provinces of Ha Tinh and Quang Tri.

Of which, the sections Bai Vot - Ham Nghi (35.28km long), Ham Nghi - Vung Ang (54.2km long), Vung Ang - Bung (55.34km long), Bung - Van Ninh (48.84km long), Van Ninh - Cam Lo (65.5km long) belonging to the North - South Eastern longitudinal expressway have an investment scale of 4 lanes, roadbed width of 17m.
