On the morning of August 16, along with millions of people across the country, Nghe An enthusiastically responded to the activity "Moving forward with Vietnam", a large-scale community event associated with the campaign "1 billion steps into the new era".
The program, organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security , took place in a special context when the whole country was entering a new development stage, associated with the rearrangement of administrative units.
This is a practical activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2, 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025).
The event was held simultaneously in 34 provinces and cities, spreading to 3,321 communes and wards, attracting more than 1.2 million participants, recording over 5 billion steps in just 1 hour.
In Nghe An, the Provincial Police coordinated with the Representative Office of Nhan Dan Newspaper to develop a detailed plan, ensuring 100% of communes and wards participate in the response.
At Ho Chi Minh Square, a large-scale provincial activity took place with the participation of 5,000 people, including officials, civil servants, armed forces, students, workers, laborers and a large number of people.
At exactly 6:00 a.m. on August 16, in bright red shirts with yellow stars, thousands of Nghe An people and provincial leaders solemnly turned to the historic Ba Dinh Square to attend the flag-raising ceremony and sing the National Anthem.
That sacred atmosphere has aroused national pride, solidarity and the desire to move forward for a strong Vietnam.
The walk not only has the meaning of sport, responding to the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" but also is a journey of millions of hearts walking together in unison.
The event brought together all generations and all walks of life, from lowlands to highlands, from urban to rural areas, creating great community strength.
In particular, each step recorded on the campaign's digital platform becomes a "green step", a small action but of great value, spreading a healthy lifestyle, contributing to reducing carbon emissions, raising awareness of environmental protection, towards the national Net Zero goal.
Not only stopping at the provincial level, 127 communes and wards across Nghe An also simultaneously organized walks, attracting a large number of officials and people to participate.
On this occasion, the province launched a call for the community to join hands in implementing the commitment to reduce net emissions to "0" by 2050 through many practical activities: learning and raising awareness about green lifestyle; registering to take specific actions in daily life; participating in environmental protection funds and developing renewable energy.
