"National sedan" Toyota Vios hybrid sets launch date in Southeast Asia

Toyota Thailand recently released a teaser revealing the launch event of the fourth generation Vios hybrid in Southeast Asia, scheduled to take place on August 21, 2025.

Accordingly, the video has not revealed details of the Toyota Vios 2025 but has confirmed the hybrid powertrain and launch date. Notably, the video also features two famous Gen Z stars in Thailand, which shows that Toyota wants to position the Vios hybrid for young people.

According to some sources, Toyota Vios hybrid in Thailand will have two versions: HEV Premium and HEV GR Sport. This is the next step after three years since the launch of the new generation Vios (August 2022). Although technical details have not been announced, Thai media predicts that Vios hybrid will share the powertrain with Yaris Cross HEV.

This model has a 1.5L naturally aspirated gasoline engine (90 horsepower, 121 Nm) combined with an electric motor (79 horsepower, 141 Nm), for a total capacity of 110 horsepower. It comes with an e-CVT gearbox, a 0.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, fuel consumption of 3.8 liters/100 km and a maximum speed of 160 km/h.

In addition to the economical powertrain, the 2025 Vios hybrid is expected to inherit many features from the Yaris Cross such as: 64-color Ambient Light interior lighting, electronic handbrake, push-button start, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity support, automatic air conditioning, rear air vents...

The high-end versions of the 2025 Toyota Vios hybrid can be integrated with the ADAS active safety package, including automatic braking, lane departure warning and steering assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic headlights.

It is expected that the Toyota Vios hybrid 2025 will have a starting price of over 700,000 baht (equivalent to about 567 million VND), the car will compete directly with the Honda City e:HEV RS.

The Toyota Vios sedan model currently sold in Vietnam is still the old generation. If the Japanese car company brings the Vios hybrid to the country, this could be the first hybrid B-class sedan in the segment.

It is possible that Toyota will simultaneously introduce the new generation of gasoline Vios, after a period of delay due to the safety inspection scandal of the DNGA platform.
