Grimsby players celebrate after eliminating MU in the Carabao Cup

Newcastle will begin their Carabao Cup defence at home against Bradford City, while the Premier League sides in Europe will also know their opponents in the third round.

Eddie Howe's side beat Liverpool in the final at Wembley in March and are now handed a favourable draw against Bradford, who are fourth in League One.

Liverpool will host Southampton (Championship), while Arsenal visit Port Vale and Chelsea travel to Lincoln. These are matches with the potential to cause a stumble for the Premier League giants.

Crystal Palace take on cross-town rivals Millwall in a repeat of last season's FA Cup clash. In all-Premier League fixtures, Brentford take on Aston Villa, while Wolves host Everton.

Carabao Cup, anh 1

Man Utd became the first "big guy" to be eliminated from the League Cup.

Elsewhere, Manchester City make the short trip to Huddersfield, while Tottenham's first Carabao Cup game under new manager Thomas Frank is against Doncaster Rovers. Brighton, fresh off a 6-0 thrashing of Oxford, travel to Barnsley.

Before the draw, the organizers determined in advance whether the eight Premier League teams participating in the Champions League and Europa League would play home or away in the third round. These teams were seeded and drawn earlier than the rest but could not face each other, to avoid scheduling problems.

Round three will be played over two weeks to avoid clashing with European fixtures, and Crystal Palace are not seeded as the Conference League only starts in October.
