After Storm No. 5 (Kajiki): 70% of affected customers have power restored

(Chinhphu.vn) - As of August 26, 2025, just one day after storm No. 5 (Kajiki) made landfall, 70% of the total 2.3 million affected customers in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh provinces had their power supply restored.

Detailed information on the impact of storm No. 5 (KAJIKI) on power supply and operation situation was updated at 8:00 a.m. on August 27, 2025 as follows:

Operational status of hydroelectric reservoirs

Hydropower plants under EVN (including Power Generation Corporations) in the area affected by storm No. 5 are still maintaining safety of the works. At 7:00 a.m. on August 27, 14 hydropower reservoirs of EVN were discharging water according to the reservoir operation process: Ban Chat, Huoi Quang, Lai Chau , Trung Son, Ban Ve, Quang Tri, Song Bung 2, Song Ba Ha, Se San 3, Se San 3A, Se San 4, Pleikrong, Ialy, Buon Kuop.

High voltage grid operation status

Due to the storm, there were 03 incidents on the 500 kV transmission line and 04 incidents on the 220 kV line in the provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh . In addition, there were 14 incidents on the 110 kV line in areas directly affected by the storm. By the evening of August 26, all incidents on the 500 kV, 220 kV, and 110 kV lines had been basically resolved and restored to operation.

Electricity supply situation for customers

Due to the impact of storm No. 5 KAJIKI, many electricity customers had their power supply interrupted, mainly in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces. With great urgency and effort, more than 500 workers, engineers, vehicles, materials and equipment were mobilized from units under the Northern Power Corporation and support forces from the Central Power Corporation to focus on overcoming the consequences of the storm and restoring power supply as quickly as possible to customers affected by the storm. By the end of August 26, 2025, that is, within 1 day after the storm, electricity units had restored power supply to 1.6 million customers out of a total of 2.3 million customers affected by the storm (about 70%). The units have also set a goal of restoring power supply to all customers affected by the storm before the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2.
