Quang Ninh aims to be a friendly destination for tourists from Arab and Middle Eastern countries.
Quang Ninh started preparing conditions to welcome tourists from Arab and Middle Eastern countries nearly a year ago. At that time, the locality welcomed a group of experts from the Conformity Certification Center ( Ministry of Science and Technology ) to survey the model of "Muslim-friendly tourism". The survey at 9 4-5 star hotels, conditions such as kitchens, rooms, facilities serving guests... were carefully evaluated to determine the level of readiness to welcome Muslim guests according to Halal standards, at the same time helping Quang Ninh clearly plan a strategy to develop a service system to meet the requirements of this special group of guests. Currently, a number of hotels and restaurants in Ha Long have made careful preparations to welcome Muslim tourists.
Mr. Raja Mahmood Janjua - owner of a restaurant serving Halal food in Ha Long shared: “Muslim tourists are very interested in destinations like Ha Long and I want to contribute more to the development of Quang Ninh tourism. Before officially opening the restaurant, we have provided Halal food for cruise ships in Ha Long Bay. More and more Muslim tourists are coming and they will be able to enjoy Halal food here. After the restaurant in Bai Chay, I plan to open another Halal restaurant in Tuan Chau”.
At the end of May, Quang Ninh had its first Halal-certified restaurant.
Recently, Ha Long University in collaboration with the Institute of South Asian, West Asian and African Studies organized an international conference on developing tourism friendly to Muslim customers. At the conference, ambassadors from 5 countries with large Muslim populations attended and shared a lot of information about culture, beliefs and Halal cuisine.
Mr. Ramlan bin Osaman, Director of the National Halal Certification Center said: “Quang Ninh province has proactively identified the Muslim market as one of the potential markets and encouraged businesses to explore this market. These are very positive changes to be ready to open a new phase, a new and attractive market for the Quang Ninh tourism industry. We are very happy about that and will also share, cooperate, and accompany the locality to have conditions for hotels and restaurants suitable for the culture and beliefs of Muslim tourists”.
Experience Halal cuisine in Ha Long city
Tourists from Arab and Middle Eastern countries always have their own requirements to suit the culture, beliefs and cuisine... requiring those working in tourism services to be properly trained. These are also challenges facing the Quang Ninh tourism industry, as shared by Associate Professor, Dr. Dinh Cong Hoang, Institute of South Asian, West Asian and African Studies: “Quang Ninh needs to transform some infrastructure issues, such as hotels, restaurants, places of worship and providing Halal food, especially training human resources, including human resources for tour guides. The Government has an international cooperation project to develop the Halal industry in Vietnam and Quang Ninh needs to continue to effectively implement, concretize those resources, cooperate internationally with embassies, with partners to bring tourists to Vietnam”.
On February 14, 2023, the Prime Minister issued Decision 10/QD-TTg approving the Project "Strengthening international cooperation to build and develop Vietnam's Halal industry by 2030", opening up a new direction in economic diplomacy, helping to open up the potential Halal market and create more opportunities for the country's sustainable economic development.
For Quang Ninh - the tourism center of the Northern region, this is also the driving force for the locality to perfect the Halal ecosystem, aiming to welcome 25.4 million visitors, including 8.6 million international visitors to Quang Ninh by 2030.
