On August 19, many first graders in Ho Chi Minh City returned to school. Inside the school, teachers organized many joyful activities to welcome the students. Outside, parents were both excited and eager to watch their children.

According to reporters, many primary schools in Ho Chi Minh City are well prepared to welcome first graders.

At Nguyen Van Tay Primary School (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), this morning, hundreds of first graders came to school to get acquainted with the school, friends and teachers. In order to create an exciting and joyful atmosphere for the children on their first day of school, the school decorated the welcome gate with balloons and arranged 2 cute mascots to wave to each child.

Teachers smiled and kindly led each child into the classroom. In the classroom, the homeroom teacher decorated the board with lively hand-drawn pictures. The students came to school with many different moods, some were excited and happy, some were surprised and moved to tears when they saw that their parents were not around. Outside the gate, although the school had announced the pick-up time and invited parents to leave, many parents still stayed behind to watch their children.

Parent Nguyen Vu (Binh Chieu, Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City) shared: "To prepare our child mentally, we talked to him a lot before the first day of school. My husband and I prepared notebooks, book covers, labeled names, ironed clothes, etc. This year, my child moved from preschool to primary school, my husband and I had to teach him many skills such as how to wear pants and white shirts, how to remember books to prepare them correctly. Although we prepared quite carefully, all parents are still excited to see if their child can adapt to the new environment, following every little step of their child."

This year, the number of primary school students is more than 626,000. Compared to the 2023-2024 school year, the number of primary school students decreased by more than 6,100 students.
