Once a low-income household, in 2022, Mr. Duong Cong Huan (Hamlet 1B) boldly invested 12 million VND to test-raise a pair of civets. Realizing that civets are suitable for local conditions, using available food sources such as bananas, rice bran, fish, etc., he decided to expand the scale. Up to now, Mr. Huan is raising more than 100 animals, of which about 50 are breeding civets with a selling price of 10-12 million VND/pair, the rest are civet meat. Income from raising civets has helped Mr. Huan escape poverty and become rich legitimately.

Mr. Duong Cong Huan's civet farming model.

Mr. Duong Cong Huan shared: “Raising civets does not require much care, and the initial investment is not too large. The important thing is to master the techniques and pay attention to barn hygiene. If done properly, this model will bring high and stable economic efficiency.”

Mr. Pham Phi Dinh, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Phong Hiep Commune, said: "Mr. Huan is one of the typical farmer members of the commune, boldly changing the production model , taking advantage of local advantages to develop the economy. His success is a clear demonstration of the spirit of farmers who dare to think and dare to do. Currently, the locality is introducing farmers in the commune to participate in learning Mr. Huan's livestock model."

Along with farmers, women in Phong Hiep commune are also actively developing household economies. A typical example is the dried seafood processing model of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Cuc (Hamlet 4). Taking advantage of locally available seafood resources, Ms. Cuc produces 3 typical products including: dried snakehead fish, dried whiteleg shrimp, and dried pressed whiteleg shrimp. Not chasing quantity, she focuses on product quality, ensuring food hygiene and safety, and beautiful designs and packaging. Thanks to the support of the Commune Women's Union, in 2021, Ms. Cuc's 3 products were certified to meet 3-star OCOP standards.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Cuc's OCOP product processing model creates a new economic development direction for local women.

“Ms. Cuc's dried food processing model has contributed to affirming the role of women in economic development, while creating jobs for many local female workers with stable incomes,” said Ms. Le Thanh Dieu, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Phong Hiep Commune.

In addition to the above two models, in the process of economic development, mass organizations in Phong Hiep commune have built and expanded many effective production models suitable for local conditions such as: shrimp - rice, shrimp - goby fish models of the Farmers' Association; raising elephant snakes, fish snakes, goby fish of the Youth Union; raising horseshoe crabs, crocodiles, and meat frogs of the Veterans' Association; sewing by the Women's Union of the commune...

Each successful model not only helps households stabilize their economy and escape poverty sustainably, but also spreads the spirit of entrepreneurship, contributes to promoting the restructuring of the rural economy, and helps localities successfully achieve the goal of building new rural areas.
