The recent storm No. 3 caused landslides of positive slopes, sedimentation of ditches and culverts at 39 locations with a volume of about 25,280m3, including: National Highway 15 with 18 locations, QL 15C with 6 locations, QL 16 with 4 locations, QL 47 with 4 locations, QL 217 with 3 locations. Negative slope landslide with a length of about 16m at Km16+110/QL 15C in Nam Xuan commune. Subsidence and cracking of the road surface at Km21+390/QL 15 with a length of 5m. Retaining wall at Km26+300/QL 15 with a length of 5m. On provincial road 521, storm rain caused landslides of negative slopes at locations at Km5+810 in Phu Le commune. Positive slope landslides and rolling rocks at 12 locations with a volume of about 1,300m3 on provincial roads 519B and 521C...
After the incidents occurred, the maintenance management board and road management units promptly deployed inspections, reviews, updates, and reports on the damage on the roads. At the same time, the units immediately deployed the clearance of sediment, placed warning signs, and barricades at landslide and slippage locations... The units coordinated with local authorities to organize propaganda, arrange guards, and direct traffic...
Through the review of road management units, landslides often occur on many national highways, provincial roads, and western border patrol roads of the province. To proactively respond, road management and maintenance units have mobilized human resources to clear sewers for drainage, clear trees, weed, patch potholes; repair and handle subsidence of roadbeds and surfaces... Prepare necessary equipment according to the "4 on-site" motto to promptly overcome consequences, ensuring traffic on key sections of roads that often experience landslides before the rainy season.
Deputy Director of the Traffic Works Maintenance Management and Public Passenger Transport Operation Department, Hoang Van Tuyen, said: In order to proactively handle landslide situations on traffic routes, from the beginning of the year, the department has developed a plan to inspect key routes that are prone to landslides and inspect the preparation of equipment, vehicles, supplies, and materials of traffic management and road maintenance units. Units are required to prepare necessary vehicles, human resources, supplies, and machinery to promptly overcome consequences, ensure traffic, and be ready to participate in responding to natural disasters when ordered. Along with that, it is required to arrange personnel to regularly patrol on routes under their management, in order to promptly detect and handle landslides and slides that cause traffic jams during the rainy and stormy season.
