Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha: People in storm-affected areas must not go out from 11am to 6pm on August 25.

On the morning of August 25, at the Forward Command Center located at the headquarters of Military Region 4, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha held a quick meeting to direct response work to storm No. 5.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized that authorities and localities must not be negligent and must mobilize police forces to ensure that people do not go out from 11am to 6pm on August 25.

After listening to reports from localities, agencies and functional forces on the situation of storm No. 5 and response work, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized that storm No. 5 is a very strong storm with complex developments and a long duration. Forecasts of the storm's path are relatively accurate, so functional forces and localities must not be negligent or subjective.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested that localities, agencies and functional forces urgently mobilize forces to ensure people's safety from now until 11:00 a.m. on August 25; direct and mobilize police forces to ensure people do not go out from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on August 25.

The Deputy Prime Minister also requested that the media provide early and complete information to help people grasp and respond to storms effectively.

“The storm will last from 11am to 6pm the same day, so we should not be complacent. Sometimes the wind is light when the eye of the storm passes, but then it becomes strong, so we request that full information be provided for people to grasp the developments,” Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized.

Forecasting heavy rainfall during and after the storm, low-lying areas, vulnerable areas are prone to flooding, landslides, which are extremely dangerous, so the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the current work prioritizes storm prevention, but there needs to be a clear plan in the scenario to identify vulnerable areas, prone to flooding, landslides, to mobilize forces and means to handle incidents and landslides to clear roads. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized the spirit of "4 on-site", focusing on villages and hamlets to deploy storm prevention and control work.

Identifying the importance of communication for command and control as very important and urgent, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested management units to direct Viettel and VNPT to immediately inspect machinery and equipment for leaders and officers in charge of natural disaster prevention and control at the grassroots level; requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to take responsibility for the overall regulation of lakes and dams. Localities should inspect and make early proposals to resolutely eliminate incidents due to subjectivity.

After a quick meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and relevant ministries, departments, agencies and authorities inspected vulnerable areas and dams in Ha Tinh./.
