At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung directly surveyed the construction area of the APEC Conference Center, APEC Boulevard, Phu Quoc International Passenger Port area and the traffic route connecting from the international airport to the conference center.
The delegation also heard reports on the progress of two strategic projects, Bai Dat Do Urban Area and Nui Ong Quan Eco- tourism Area - important projects that not only serve the conference but also contribute to the development of high-quality urban space and tourism in Phu Quoc.

At the meeting, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan said that up to now, the province has established interdisciplinary working groups and issued emergency orders for key projects.
At the same time, the province is also actively promoting investment calls with a list of 40 projects in the fields of environment, industry and eco-tourism with a total proposed capital from the central budget of more than 9,000 billion VND.

To ensure synchronous infrastructure connectivity, Kien Giang province proposed that the Government add two new coastal transport projects to Decision 948/QD-TTg. The first project is the coastal road to the east of Phu Quoc island, about 44 km long, 60 m wide, with an estimated total investment of VND 14,100 billion. The second project is the coastal road connecting An Thoi port, about 2.7 km long, 30 to 60 m wide, with a total investment of about VND 2,650 billion. At the same time, the province also proposed to change the Urban Metro Line Project, Section 1, from the form of emergency public investment to the form of selecting investors in special cases.

Explaining the necessity, the provincial leaders said that the routes not only serve to transport delegates and tourists during APEC but also play a role in connecting airports, seaports, convention centers with large hotel complexes. These are strategic traffic axes, forming a coastal traffic network, expanding urban development space, while increasing the ability to transport goods and services and meeting the requirements of national defense and security in the sea and island areas.
In particular, the Eastern coastal road, when completed, will create an additional 245 hectares of land for the development of urban, tourism and commercial areas. Because most of the route passes through coastal areas, site clearance is convenient and costs are low, contributing to speeding up project implementation and reducing budget pressure.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung acknowledged that Kien Giang province and its ministries and branches have basically implemented 15/15 tasks synchronously, of which 12 tasks have been completed. He commended the efforts of the provincial People's Committee, ACV, investors, contractors and related units in the preparation work, especially the progress of selecting investors and constructing key projects.
The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the speed of project implementation, and emphasized that this is only the first phase, the workload is still very large, and the implementation time is limited. Therefore, he requested the province and ministries and branches to report on progress periodically every month and organize an interdisciplinary inspection team every 3 months to urge and promptly remove obstacles.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested that the implementation process must be public and transparent, absolutely not allowing negativity, waste, or group interests to occur, and at the same time strictly implementing legal processes and procedures according to regulations. The organization of construction, contractor selection, survey, and design must be strictly controlled, aiming to start all projects before August 19, 2025.
The Deputy Prime Minister assigned Kien Giang province to develop a detailed plan, clearly defining people, work, time, products, responsibilities and authority, striving to complete the projects at least 3 to 6 months before APEC, and submit the master plan before July 10, 2025.
For projects that have not yet selected investors, procedures must be completed by July 2025, prioritizing essential projects such as water reservoirs, clean water, and wastewater treatment. Ministries and sectors such as Finance, Construction, National Defense, and Public Security, along with ACV, must closely coordinate with the province to ensure synchronization, safety, progress, and investment efficiency.
