According to the plan, the Casa C-295 with serial number 8901 will take on the leading role as the squadron leader. The Casa C-295 military transport aircraft with serial number 8901 has a length of 24.495 m, a wingspan of 25.810 m, and a height of 8.663 m. This is the type of aircraft considered the "workhorse" of the Vietnam Air Force.

After the four planes joined together, the C-295 took the lead, followed by three C-212s.

The air show transport aircraft formation has two take-off options. Option 1: The C-295 takes off first, then two C-212s join the formation via the runway and the last C-212 joins the formation of four aircraft. Option 2: The C-295 takes off first, via the runway, then three C-212s take off at the same time.

The formation of aircraft follows a 1-2-1 pattern, with uniform speed and distance when flying over the stage at Ba Dinh Square. However, the difference in speed characteristics between the C-295 and C-212 aircraft poses a difficult problem for the pilots during formation training.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Quoc Hung, Squadron Leader of Squadron 3, Air Brigade 918 said: "After more than a month of preparation, going through 8-10 flight formations from 2-plane, 3-plane to 4-plane formations, we are ready to fully meet the criteria of the flight formation in mission A80. Today, the formation of 4 transport aircraft completed the contents of take-off, joining the formation, long-distance flight and flying over the runway, ensuring the correct prescribed altitude when passing the stands at Ba Dinh Square. Currently, the data is accurate, there are no problems in the flight formation, hopefully the weather will support us on the day of carrying out the sacred mission A80".
