Early in the morning of August 8, engineers, aviation technicians and flight crews of Air Brigade 918 (Air Defense - Air Force) were present at Gia Lam Airport ( Hanoi ) to check and prepare for a flight practice session in the capital's sky.

At 6:00 a.m., four transport planes, including one Casa C-295 (the largest) and three Casa C-212s, began taking off on the runway. The C-295 was in the lead; two C-212s took off at the same time, alternating on the runway, and one C-212 with registration number 8992 flew last.

Casa-212 aircraft with registration number 8982 flies against the golden sky at dawn today.

This is a medium-sized transport aircraft and can be equipped with weapons to patrol borders and coastlines.

The squadron flew over many areas with beautiful landscapes in the center of the capital.

The weather today is quite favorable for flight training.

The formation of four transport aircraft led by the C-295 was followed by three C-212s. The C-295 was a transport aircraft with a length of 24,495m, a wingspan of 25,810m, a height of 8,663m, and a maximum speed of 454km/h.

This transport plane can carry up to 23.2 tons of cargo and 71 people.

The roar of the aircraft engines is impressive. At Bat Khoi Street next to the airport area, you can see very close-up images of these planes.

All four planes will perform at the grand ceremony celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.

The planes will maintain a 1-2-1 formation, at the same speed and distance as they fly over the podium at Ba Dinh Square.

The difference in size, weight and speed characteristics between the C-295 and C-212 creates a difficult problem for pilots to train.

After 40 years (since the parade to celebrate International Labor Day on May 1, 1985), the Vietnam Air Force's transport aircraft formation returned to perform in the sky over Hanoi on the occasion of National Day on September 2.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Quoc Hung

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Quoc Hung, squadron leader of squadron 3, Air Brigade 918 said: "After many flights from 2 planes, then 3 planes, up to now 4 planes, today we have performed according to the set data, taking off according to 2 plans and forming an arrow formation with Casa C-295 leading. After nearly 1 month, the training process has been completely smooth and safe."
