Developing experiential tourism - a new direction for Thanh Hoa tourism

Along with green tourism , tourism development associated with experiential activities is being given special attention by Thanh Hoa province, aiming to develop a variety of attractive tourism products to attract tourists.

Developing experiential tourism - a new direction for Thanh Hoa tourism Tourists are excited to experience cooking with firewood at Yen Trung tourist village (Yen Dinh).

Located about 40km west of Thanh Hoa city center, Yen Trung tourist village (Yen Dinh) was completed and put into use in June 2020. Although it has only been put into operation for a short time, it is now considered a "meeting place" for many tourists from inside and outside the province. Yen Trung tourist village includes 2 areas: Eco-resort and clean agricultural production area. In particular, the eco-resort has 8 villas, 3 bungalows, 3 nomadic houses, 5 boat houses, 1 stilt house, 2 kite rooms designed in a style close to nature with a total capacity of about 250 guests. Coming here, visitors can return to a space that recreates the rustic yet familiar old Northern countryside, to the village gate, the ferry, the stone bridge... Visitors can also participate in a form of tourism that experiences real life, participate in daily activities themselves, and discover local dishes by renting food and staying at a local's house.

Mr. Le Xuan Thanh from Quang Ninh commune (Quang Xuong) just had an experience trip here and said: “With a spacious, airy space and cultural spaces imbued with the Northern countryside, our family had wonderful experiences. Children were very excited about games such as duck pedaling, rowing, water polo, grass sliding, soccer, swinging or physical games. In particular, everything in the space “where time stays” such as wood stove, cupboard, stone mortar, water jar, bed, green tea pot... evoked beautiful childhood memories for us”.

In addition to games, sightseeing and experience activities, Yen Trung tourist village also has an outdoor cinema area held on weekends. Thereby, it maximizes the old rural setting in the midst of modern life, bringing visitors interesting experiences.

Also recently, on their journey to Thanh Hoa, many tourists have chosen the destination of “Monaco - Nghi Son Art City” (Nghi Son town). Along with accommodation and dining services, there are also spa services, bars - karaoke, wine cellars, golf courses, tennis courts, football fields, billiards, gyms and many high-class games, different from other destinations in the province such as experiencing the ATV off-road vehicle track with a length of 7.3km; racing “mini formula 4” Go-Kart on a modern track; paintball shooting, grass skiing...

In Nghi Son town, the Nghi Son - Me Island tourist route was newly put into operation by Anh Phat Hotel Service Company Limited, serving tourists in early April. Coming to Me Island tour, tourists will visit and admire the island with wild beauty in the middle of the sea and sky of Thanh land. This is the largest island in the archipelago of 18 different large and small islands located in the Southeast of the province.

Le Hong Dao said: “The Nghi Son - Me Island tourist route is expected to be a highlight attracting visitors to Nghi Son in particular and Thanh Hoa in general this summer. On the journey to Me Island, visitors will be able to participate in many experiential activities such as kayaking, jet skiing, windsurfing, fishing, scuba diving, camping, campfire, walking on the monkey bridge, visiting the lighthouse, interacting with soldiers on the island... and enjoying attractive parties on a luxury yacht. In addition, the marina also offers dining, resting and shopping services at duty-free stores.”

Along with experiential tourism areas, Thanh Hoa has recently developed a strong type of camping tourism (outdoor camping). Although this type has only been developed in localities in the province since the beginning of 2022, up to now, tourists can easily find many beautiful camping destinations such as the beach areas of Quang Hai and Quang Thai communes (Quang Xuong); Dong beach, Cac mountain (Nghi Son town); Xuan Thai commune (Nhu Thanh); Hoa Quy commune (Nhu Xuan)... Different from the feeling when staying in luxurious and convenient resorts, each camping destination in Thanh Hoa brings visitors new and unique experiences when they are free to immerse themselves in nature. Associated with this form of tourism are often activities such as setting up camp, making campfires, walking, climbing mountains, swimming, fishing, cooking, organizing barbecues, fun and entertainment activities...

Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Thi Hai Yen said: “Building on the achieved results, in the coming time, the department will continue to carry out well the planning work, orienting localities to develop sightseeing and experience tourism. Focus on renovating, upgrading and perfecting synchronous infrastructure such as transportation, electricity, clean water at tourist destinations to suit the needs of tourists. At the same time, focus on developing unique, quality tourism products, associated with cultural identity, regional characteristics, and experiences to attract a large number of domestic and international tourists”.
